In this lawsuit situation, it’s not surprising that Hutchins’ family would cast blame in the broadest possible terms. And it’s not surprising that Baldwin would mount a defense. A complicating factor, however, is that Baldwin was also a producer, responsible (presumably) for the overall safety on set. So it may turn out that the same person isn’t liable as an actor, but is as a producer.
If I’m recalling correctly, Brandon Lee’s family sued a number of individuals involved with The Crow tragedy: several producers (of course), but also the prop master and actor Michael Massee (who fired the gun). I assume, however, that the settlement reached was paid by the various production companies and insurers — not individuals. And Massee was never criminally charged.
