Accidental shooting kills one on set of new Alec Baldwin movie

Good to see justice served here. She and her defense team were trying really hard to shift the blame onto Baldwin (who, again, holds responsibility AS A PRODUCER for tolerating her reckless operation in the first place) given that he was the big name, but at the end of the day, the tragedy is on her shoulders.

It’s something of a long-standing joke that few people know exactly what a movie “producer” does. And then there are the numerous variations on the title: “producer” vs. “produced by”; executive, co-, associate, etc. I suspect that this ambiguity might play a big part in Baldwin’s trial. I.e., an actor who takes a producing credit might be involved with securing financing. But is someone at that level also involved with vetting and hiring crew (like the key grip or armorer)? Or is that done by some other type of “producer”?

In any case, Rust has several listed producers. But only Baldwin has been charged.

Baldwins producer role probably results in substantial civil liabilities (along with a whole host of other parties) but in no way should it have a bearing on criminal culpability, which has a higher men’s rea.

Alec Baldwin wept in court as a Santa Fe judge dismissed his involuntary manslaughter case with prejudice on Friday after a day-long, dramatic and often bizarre hearing over how police and prosecutors treated a handful of bullets.

“The late discovery of this evidence has impacted the fundamental fairness of the proceedings,” Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer stated in dismissing the case. “There is no way for the court to right this wrong. The sanction of dismissal is the only warranted remedy.”

The **** is going on with this DA's office. Its been clown shoes.

Remember they charged Baldwin first with violating laws that didn't exist at the time of the accidental shooting. Then they also damaged the gun in question (this same judge previously ruled to allow it at trial). Maybe there were some other things I'm forgetting or don't know about. There's also today's reveal of other more recent lapses.

He definitely got lucky that the prosecutors SUCKED at their job. Now if only he would just move on from the film all together. After all the pain and drama this has caused....idk why he wants to complete it.

It's always been fairly obvious they were rushing to try and bring high profile, dubious charges against Baldwin. It's no surprise to me their work was shoddy enough to undermine the whole thing.

Yeah, the first prosecutor was trying to get her MAGA credentials for her run for AG. Which is why they were stupid enough to try to use a law that wasn't on the books when the accident happened. But everything after has been clown shoes.

It definitely reeked of being a MAGA witch hunt. The cult loathed that Alec made fun of their savior and they saw it as their chance to get back at him.

I watched the trial today, and wow....this was nuts. I have never seen anything like this
