Comics action comics question

hey guys been away from comics for awhile and when i stopped reading it was during the adam kubert arc of action comics and im j/w if they ever released the final issue in that run yet?

Hey I have a general question maybe someone really familiar with the comics can answer for me.

My father used to collect Superman comics when he was a kid. He always talks about one comic in particular that he absolutely loved and got ripped up by his nephews when they were toddlers. I want to try and find that comic but I have no idea where to begin. He said it would have been around the early sixties. He said it was the very first issue where Superman was killed with kryptonite and that Lex Luther did it? He also said he distinctly remembers that after he died a statue or monument or something was errected in his honor.

Can any of you tell me which comic that is? Issue number and all? Thanks!
