Adidas shackle sneakers pulled after outcry

I'd totally ask her to leave those on during the deed.

And leave the shoes dangling from the shackles.

:high five:

Oh for pete’s sake. This “controversy” is one of the most stupid things I’ve ever seen. The only thing more stupid is the actual shoe.

:high five:

Oh, the mental images you just incited... now I really want those shoes. The possiblities are only bound by the imagination.

I think this is silly, but the shoe designer really stepped into it by claiming to get inspiration from "My Pet Monster."

Clearly he's lying: that stupid toy property never inspired anything, anywhere, in the history of the human race. :cmad:

I dunno. Those are pretty clearly inspired by My Pet Monster. I've never seen those plastic cuffs anywhere else but the 80's on that toy. It's kind of an obscure reference to suddenly pull up if he's lying.

What did people think he based it on, grape soda and slavery?

I think it's dumb, but I don't look at it and think slavery or racism.

I would think the larger issue would be those shackles getting caught on stuff and people tripping and falling.

Now we'll never get to see some idiot get his shackle shoe caught on a subway train.

stupid..... (in appearance) but also in this whole "outrcry" really? black people now lay claim to shackles now? as if they're unique to them? what's next, banning ball and chain costumes ? handcuffs?

this is just stupid... people are tooooo overly sensitive sometimes, and grasping at straws....

I agree.

Some Jewish groups made a big protest a few years ago when a memorial to Catholic victims of the Holocaust was placed at Auschwitz.

So Jews were the only Holocaust victims? Um, no, there were five million other victims who "count" too, whether some Jews think they do or not.

Minorities trying to get some kind of copyright on oppression and suffering is annoying.

agrees, it's one thing (even in our own gay community) that pisses me off... not everything's racist or homophobic

Agreed, some gay activists go overboard as well throwing the word "homophobia" around the same way some black activists toss the word "racist" around whether it applies or not, or some Jewish organizations paint anyone who criticizes Israel about anything as an anti-Semitic Nazi sympathizer.

It's totally counterproductive and just gives the haters more ammunition about how "they" try to shut people up.

THIS JUST IN! the color purple, is now racist, and can only be used by people of african decent. Everyone else must now only use magenta.

and in other news.... gay rights activist have now sued the Lourve in Paris for using an upside-down pyramid, and have forced them to paint it pink...

General Mills has also been ordered to stop using the derogatory term "trix" and finally give the rabbit his cereal.

This is kind of bad business from Adidas, too.

Odds are they'd have made a lot of money if they released these.

Sadly, none of this would surprise me these days.

I didn't immediately thing "slave" when I saw it....I actually thought of a prison chain gang.

In either case, it's a stupid design. People walking around dragging something from their shoe that can get caught in stuff or stepped on by other people.....dumb.

I'm black and I'm not offended by them.

I'm sure alot of black people aren't either but as per usual the media will take a vocal section of the black population and make out they speak for all black people on the planet like we have some hive mind or something.

Then the people who moan about everything being P.C will probably blame black people for being oversensitive.

If hipsters want to pay $350 dollars for ugly sneakers they can go ahead. You could just buy some regular hi-top sneakers attach a chain and velcro strap to them if you wanted to and have the same look.

Yeah, but that's like putting a cooked hamburger patty between 2 slices of sandwich bread and calling it McDonald's. Nobody wants a welfare burger.

Don't forget the egg and bell peppers.

This reversal is an insult to those proud members of the S&M community.
