Re: Whether alan Moore would have ever been naive enough to think there would be no Hollywood changes to his work(before they were actually made).
He said in an interview that when it came time for the Hughes Bros to do 'From Hell' he knew that they would not get that book down. But he thought he'd get, or was hoping for, the same situation with 'Do androids Dream of electric Sheep' and 'Blade Runner', where one does not resemble the other so much except in concept, but the film stands apart and alone as a piece of great work of it's own.
Yeah, can't recall where it was from right now, but it's a shame to read that interview with his enthusiasm for the Hughes Bros doing the job with Johnny Depp.
I imagine it's possible that he did think, perhaps concieve , of Watchemen as being unfilmable while he was putting it together with Gibbons. All those little puzzle-like links etc, no way he would think that such an effect could have been done on film(or anyone would have bothered to try even). Maybe now it has, and we can flip back the disc to see the links almost like a comic book. He would have been thinking it would have been a compromised film and just hoping for the best.
If i had a genie come out a lamp one of my 3 wishes would be to sit down with Alan Moore and watch this adaption with him, his first viewing natch.
