So, we've all done it before. Took out time learning the ins and outs of something we'd really want to do, only to find out it doesn't mean crap in the real world. Maybe it was something like wood shop in high school, only to end up becoming a desk jockey after college. Fess up here.

Me? It's web management. Sure, I can keep a site running, and looking good and what not. But ANYONE can do that when you're only getting maybe 12 hits a day. I've adminned several sites [this easily being the biggest], owned a few as well, and modded countless more, but out of all that, I still can't seem to get a decent amount of traffic without having to ****e myself out on something like Myspace or some crap like that. So, with all the experience I've got, it means nothing....EVER.

trigonometry is useless!:o
Not always, because trig can be applied to everyday situations when you have to determine angles, such as when you're playing pool or throwing something. I would argue that calculus is more useless than trigonometry.

Not to mention Language Arts or English studies. I don't care about the syllabic layout of haiku.

Wow, that's even less funny the second time around. I didn't know that was possible!

This makes me sad.

:csad::csad::csad::csad::csad:

It means... the life I thought was life... means nothing....

:goes in corner and sobs:

Not to mention Language Arts or English studies.

Look at some of the posts here, and tell me that Language Arts and English Studies aren't somewhat important.

"how do i shot web?????????????????????????????????"

"u r ghey!!!!!"

I took like 2 years of Home Ec., only to end up eating fast food everyday, and living in a landfill. :csad:

A indian sage summed up his 50 years of extensive teaching and he said i have taught absolutely nothing :woot:

is this thread about genuinely useless activities or just learning something useful and not being able to use it in one's own practical life?

My life means nothing.........

I just pulled an em00.... :(

Drakon, the answer is right before you.
Your experience would mean something if you'd learn to be a ****e.
****e is the key that unlocks the door.
Fight it all you want, we must be either empty and miserable...or ****es.

You're like Oscar The Grouch with worse B.O. :(

Drak, Wil's comment is not without merit. Everything in this day and age is marketing, marketing, marketing. It's how you package, position and pimp yourself and your endeavors, being really good at what you do is just a bonus rather than being enough to make your mark these days. If it wasn't true, the Simpson sisters, Paris Hilton and David Arquette would all be flipping burgers someplace.

I think it's pathetic when your own teacher tells you, "You'll never need this outside of this class."

My own college math professor told me that... And I still hate that *****'s class.

What you learn in school isn't experience.

All my experience has taught me certain things I want to avoid (example: if I can smell how spicy it is, don't eat it even if someone else is convincingly stating "it's not that spicy").

It has also taught me that life is not fair, but you still don't want to acquire bad karma.

My experience has also taught me that a positive outlook may not keep you from experiencing serious problems, but it will help you survive them better.
