I was just re-reading through some of the old Exiles and Ultimate X-Men issues and I was just thinking you guys would re-design and alter the x-men mythos.

Exiles started good with its refreshingly different characters but then declined in quality, and the ultimate universe really has not strayed from the source material

So I was wondering how you guys would change the X-Men. Imagine you could write your own reality. How would you change characters? What would the line up of the X-men be? Who would be their enemies? Ideas for storylines? Just general difference you would make.

I'm always interested in if other comic readers read comics and think 'I wish I could write my own stories'.

So yeah, feel free to post your ideas it can be kinda like the old 'create your own mutant thread'.

I'll post some of my ideas later after I finish revising...

I wish you all could read spanish and then I'd show you my 615 Marvel Universe fanfics :(

I don't want to get into a full description just yet... But if I designed an alternate Universe then I'd want it to be completely different than what Marvel did with the Ultimate line.

I don't want an alternate uni that's a cheap knock off of 616. I mean, just look at the original lineup from Ultimate. The people expected to be good guys (in 616) were good guys, and the people that were supposed to be bad guys (in 616) were bad guys.

That, and Ultimate has rehashed too many old storylines. They haven't tried much on their own. And making Cable a futuristic Wolverine was the worst idea in the history of Ultimate X-Men.

In terms of alternate universes, I prefer what they did in Mutant X to Ultimate...

I always thought that a book about an alternate Universe where mutants are already viewed as criminals that're supposed to be detained would be fun... Not a short arc, but a whole book about the X-Men being born in a universe like that.

I agree. I always wanted something completely different and refreshing. The roster for the ultimate x-men was so predictable, whereas I would want something obscure or atleast re-imagined characters like in Mutant X. The whole point of an alternate reality is to be different.

But, for the most part, Marvel's afraid to do that. They think that if they go too different the fans won't accept it and the title will fail... Which, sadly, is probably true. A lot of Marvel fans just can't stand it when the status quo changes.

One thing I'd want in an alternate universe is no Xavier OR Magneto. Get them out of the picture and come up with something original.

I'd want no Phoenix Force or 'uber' Wolverine.

that's a tough question. because everything that i've always liked about the X-Men is pretty much what we have right now.

BUT . . . if there were a alternate reality X-Men, i'd like to see it focused on a smaller group, handled similarly to how "Runaways" has been. instead of getting distracted and focusing on this new mutant and that new mutant, i'd like to see more stories of the characters we already know and love.

AND . . . after reading "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen," i always thought it would be neat to see Marvel's response to this. replacing the classic literary characters with mutants. because it seems that mutants aren't necessarily a new thing. so what if we had a run about a group of mutants living in the 1800's or even further back? it could even be a fairly limited run, maybe only spanning two or three years, and then finish it off tragically (they're all burnt at the stake!) and make the book something of a "History of the Marvel Universe" book.

there's my .02$.

Have one of the bad guys find Cyke first and have one of the good guys find Gambit first.

Definitely would shake things up a bit.

I'd have the idea of mutant's being hated as a lot stronger, they are persecuted heavily, like the jews in nazi germany, have them more like resistance fighters and up the element of struggle.

Age wise, I'd have them in their early twenties for the core group, a decent origin arc for Cyclops, and show why he's the leader, have his optic blast go off in a classroom, and have the guilt etc, make him dark. But when he's captured and tortured, he eventually escapes(thanks to a magneto liberation plan) , where cyclops decides that they are better than the aubse he suffered and that explains his stance on being better, take the morale highground etc.

Magneto would be like a leader of a different faction or resistance cell from Xavier, they don't always see eye to eye but kind of work together etc. no cerebro also, or the X-mansion, various things that have a semblance, however they have to migrate and move a lot.

Thoughts? If you like so far, I'll post a detailed thing when I can explaining origins and development of each main character etc...

Or even better, do an X Men team founded by Sinister. He'd put all his favorites, ( Cyke, Gambit, Sabertooth, maybe a malice/Polaris) on the team, or someting like that.

I've hated how every "New Universe" (Ultimate, Move, Evolution) basically had the same core characters. Its always Cyclops/Jean/Wolverine/Storm/Rogue/Shadowcat/Nightcrawler/Iceman/Colossus/Beast give or take a few. I understand the first 4 are sorta "must-haves", but even the background characters are the same.

Granted, they DID deviate from the O5, but its not original when you do it THE SAME WAY everytime.

Eh. Cyke would wind up being a semi-ethical, super tactical villain that led some team or another. Gambit, on the other hand, would pry wind up closer to 616 Cyclops then you'd think.

You forget the part about not even bothering with the visor. :woot:

I *know*.

Trust me, I've ranted quite a few times about how delusional it is to not see *any* ressemblance between the two characters.

Tough guys with lots of issues. Just different coping mechanisms.

That's why everyone thought he was going to be the third Summers brother for a long time...

While that would have been a little weird for me, I think I'd of still liked it better than creating a new Omega mutant out of the blue and proceeding to write one of Marvel's hugest retcons ever...

Would've made a whole lot of sense, eh. But hardcore Gambit fans had to whine about how the Summers weren't cool enough and writers had to f**k up Gambit so bad the x-office wanted him out of the picture. :whatever:

Amen to that. Although I'd go for "one of the worse". Not quite as bad as Gwen Stacy, but what the hell.

Ah they just didn't see the potential. I mean, tons of Gambit fans love when he's paired with Bishop (as the straight man of the pair). If they made Gambit a Summers brother they could have had that all the time with Cyke and Havok...

I just deny that ever happened...

Yep, could've been good stuff indeed. But no, we get Bratty Omega, I mean, Vulcan instead. :whatever:

Exactly how old was she supposed to be again??? :wow:

Ugh, the whole Vulcan thing is annoying. Even worse is the fact that, when he comes back, he'll be bringing the Shi'ar back into the fold AGAIN. I get tired of them.

I mean, if they wanted to create an original character and make him the third Summer's brother then I think they should have gone with something a bit closer to Cyke and Havok. Make him a master tactician, so he and his brother(s) can go head to head. I mean, they could have kept him as an Omega. Instead... we got a stereotypical whiny ass ***** of a younger brother.

Not to mention Corsair could take Gambit on one of his intergalactic pimping trips.

I don't think I've heard any of your rants on the subject.

Gambit still can be the fourth Summers brother, when Vulcan and Alex are arguing over who uses the bathroom first he and Scott could team up and smack them aroud, make a good exercise and strengthen the family bond.

don't forget Adam X. the original other Summers Brother. so in total...5 freakin boys and none of them can really stand each other

They could throw them all onto one team and make it a monthly book. :woot:

More like comments on how they're basically tough guys with issues who just took a different road, really. Threw in Scott, Alex, Remy and Logan in the same pack, actually.

Didn't we clash over this thoery of mine that Scott and Remy had a lot more in common than met the eye?

But anyway, maybe rant was too strong a word. I don't exactly go on 10-pages heartfelt diatribes. :woot:

Haven't had time to proof read, so be kind.:yay:

Charles Xavier history is pretty much the same as that of the 616 universe, until he was drafted into the Vietnam War. Sometime during the war his battalion was attacked by the Vietcong and he was forced to use his mental abilities to kill the Vietnamese soldiers. Reluctantly, he was then forced to edit the memories of his fellow soldier, who were more terrified of him then the Vietcong. Feeling that normal humans would fear and hate mutants, Charles decides that the best thing for the world was to keep the existent of mutants hidden.

Over the years and with the help of the United States government, Xavier created the X.S.E. (X-Treme Sanctions Executive) and within three years he gained support from the U.N. and was secretly funded it by the world’s major government. During this time he gathered others with super-human abilities to help him and with the aid of scientific geniuses (like Reed Richards, Tony Stark, and Bruce Banner), he started his mission to suppress mutant existent. Sometime around this time, Xavier took on the name Sentinel.

To detect mutants around the world, the X.S.E created a machine called Cyberno, the machine is sensitive to the unusual waves of psionic energy ("brain waves") which superhumanly powerful mutants emit. With Cyberno, the X.S.E can scan the planet for mutants (even mutate) and measured the amount of superhuman powers they possesses, Cyberno then calculate the usefulness of their abilities. Cyberno is advance enough that it can actually determine the mutant’s geographical location, and the identity of the mutant if given sufficient data. If the mutant possesses an ability that the X.S.E considers useful or in some case dangerous, the X.S.E will contact the mutant’s home country and sends out a squadron of superhuman being called the X-Men to collect him or her. With the help of Reed Richards, Xavier found that Cyberno could also suppress mutants’ abilities on a global scale. With Doctor Richards modifications, Cyberno emits an artificial low-level psionic field which inhibits mutants power, thus keeping mutant a secrets from the rest of the world.

While Cyberno can suppress 98% of mutant powers around the world, there still 2% of the mutant populace which are unaffected by its field. Whenever these 2% of mutant’s use their powers it causes a slight spike within Cyberno’s psionic energy field, these mutants are offhandedly called Spikes. These mutants are either captured and put to work for the X.S.E or considered at large and dangerous.

Eh. To me it's still too predictable. The "heroes" (or main characters, anyway) are basically the 616/Ultimate X-Men with small twists. I mean, you've made a few additions, but they're all Marvel Heroes too.

If I designed an alternate universe I'd want to completely re-design characters... Have Nightcrawler be a muderous religious zealot, Wolverine be a completely feral villain, stuff like that.
