I would probably have the first 5 be my core members and rotate the last 3 in and out depending on the story

hell yes, go the 80s!!!! lol the 80s team was amazing, and i pretty much have all of them plus wanda, who i want to become an xman sooo bad! her whole family has been in the past! plus shes good friends with jean over in first class, it would allow her to ond with her sister lorna, and she could be like a mentor to illyana!

so she's not that weird of a choice, except that half the xmen want to murder her...lol ehh it would give her a good dynamic!

i kinda had to sacrifice rogue though. and i forgot about northstar, and since i had kitty on there, i took her off since shes dead, and put him in.

If I were aiming for effectiveness and not favoritism I would go with

1. Havok as leader
2. Colossus as the "strong man"
3. Wolverine -- for sheer badassery and the ability to get the job done
4. Jean -- because a telepath is handy for team coordination
5. Quicksilver -- because he is just so damn useful
6. Forge -- for the tech
7. Rogue -- doubles as the flying member and, like Colossus, the "strong man"
8. Dazzler -- great for stunning enemies
