Now I dont mean like the barrel throwing ****** from the arcade days, I mean more like donkey kong country and DK64. I think nintendo should try and expand on that as opposed to this donkey konga crap. Does anyone else agree with me or am I just a whiny nerd?

Well, you are a whiny nerd, but yes. I think it is about time for another DK Platformer. Hopefully along the lines of a jungle version of SMG. But, there might be a contractual stipulation from Rare in what kind of games he can be in. I'm not sure.

Rare would have absolutely no ****ing say so in what Nintendo does with Donkey Kong. He's their character. They created DK before Rare even did the adventure games. It's not like the whole Super Mario RPG, Geno/Mallow thing. Now Diddy, K.Rool and Dixie might be different. Though seeing as Rare gets absolutely no credit for the appearances of Diddy, K. Rool and Dixie (the last two in trophy and sticker form) in Smash Bros. There should be absolutely nothing holding Nintendo back from doing a platformer because of Rare. It's their choice. Their characters. Their choices.

They'd just rather see him in this crap games they've given him lately.

I'm just saying we don't know the contents of the Contract as Written as signed by both parties. At the height of the Nintendo/Rare Partnership, Nintendo was 2nd or third in the Videogame industry, especially in the 3-d-ish realm of Gaming. Rare could have stipulated in the Contract that no other developer could use these characters in a platformer til X number of years to stake their claim in the partnership. It would have been who of them to do so as they were trying to build "street creed" as the new bad-boys of Developers. It would have been shi*y of Nintendo to use Rare to develop a neat new franchise with Rare, and as soon as their Joint product sold #1, then turn around and have another developer create DK2, completely ignoring Rare. Leaving them in the Dust.

I'm just saying that it is a possibility that Nintendo retains rights to the Charactors, and Rare retains rights of the Characters in that Genre of Gaming. That why sometimes Partnerships are messy. We have this issue from time to time in my industry were you have the Distributor and the Factory, the Factory wouldn't like if you took that product you make with them and shift it over to another factory where you can make it cheaper. It just keeps the Business relationships honest.

I have to agree that I would like to see a DK platformer in the near future, though no plans have been announced yet. Wait didn't Reggie hint that he has some big plans for E3 this year? :)

I never stopped to think that Rare might just own the copyright to auxilary characters like tiny kong or dixie or any of the other kongs. Thats a crap sandwich. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a DK platformer. I even think if they followed the road layed down by DK64 that it would still own.

DK64 kind of sucked since it was a mandatory fetch quest, and they ditched the realistic environments of the SNES games in favor of cartoonier fare. However, I loved the original Donkey Kong Country for SNES, and I really wish Nintendo would get off their butts and make a DK game that continued the legacy of the franchise rather than more of those silly drum games.

I would love to see a New Super Mario Bros of Donkey Kong. I think a 3-d Side Scroller is exactly what he needs.

I was just saying in my earlier posts the possible reason why it hasn't happen yet. I think that a Side-Scroller on the DS has alot of potential.

i would buy an updated mario galaxy type DK game the day it came out... no more bongo games or mario add in games... just a pure adventure DK game.

I'd love a new Donkey Kong 64 style game. Wish that game would come to the virtual console. DK64, the Banjo Kazooie's and Conker are the only reasons I regret selling my N64. Thought either XBLA or the Virtual Console would have them to download by now.

That would be fun but only if Rare makes it, I think Nintendo would make it all about Mario or something lame like that.

I've been waiting since 1997. The game has to have Dixie Kong, the ability to glide allows for better gameplay.

Dude! If you want DK back to roots IT MUST BE the Barrel tossing mentally challenged ape from the Arcade days...
But anyway I also want a DECENT DKC type of game... sans Kongas

nah, dk 64 was awesome. a newer version of that, most likely wont see it for a while though, we already have some of nintendos big guns out, mario galaxy, metroid, smash bros, and now mario kart.... i bet we will see this in about 1.5 or 2 years.

Yes, he did.
I expect it to be, either a DK game or a Staforx one.
Oh wait.....it might be Kid Icarus

I don't think it'll be Donkey Kong.

I'm expecting Nintendo to at least announce that they're working on a new Legend of Zelda title that's made specifically for the Wii instead of a port made from the Gamecube.

For the actual games to come out for this year, I'm not expecting too much either. Animal Crossing, Kirby, and another Mario Sports title will be shown off for sure guaranteed with Kid Icarus being the major title to show off.

I don't even think a true Donkey Kong title will be announced for 2009 either. Frankly it seems as if Nintendo really doesn't know what to really do with Donkey Kong asides from putting him in side games since Rare left.

I think if they did a mario galaxy type thing but with DK we could have a seriously sweet game on our hands.
