Amazon's The Tick

I took his comments as they're poking fun at the "dark and gritty" style. I expect this Tick will take himself very seriously and think he's badass but he comes off as silly.

I could see this as a possible route as well, like maybe taking certain mechanics from Arrow or Daredevil but give it that satirical execution that the Coen brothers(Burn After Reading, Hail, Caesar) and Terry Gilliam(Brazil, Time Bandits) display in their films.

Edlund tweeted that this is filming. Wonder how long before we get an in-costume pic of Serafinowicz.

I'm hoping for an unexposed face for The Tick in this one(although anything is possible). Serafinowicz has these very vivid eyes that would make him come thorough the mask, I think.

I definitely would prefer more of a Batman-type cowl than what they put on Warburton. Kinda want to see Deadpool eyes on it too, just so they can play up the comedy of those ridiculous cartoon eyes on a hero trying to be taken seriously, so I never have to hear people in the Bat-threads whine about white lenses ever again.

I think that would totally work. Indeed, Deadpool has opened many doors in terms of how to approach the "silly" comic elements.

Wow! Looks pretty intriguing! Is that Jackie Earl Haley?! If so, he looks excellent!

Seeing how I mentioned Terry Gilliam's Time Bandits in an earlier post here, just thought I'd mention how Jackie Earle Haley's The Terror kinda' reminds me of David Warner's The Evil Genius in TB with its colors.

as a fan of the Tick and a fan of the original live-action series, I am NOT liking this new costume look at ALL... especially the face mask... uh uh, NOT happening for ME... VERY disappointed...

It looks bad. Original was better. I will still likely give it a shot

I feel like they shot for some middle ground with the costume. It's not overtly satirizing the "realistic" trend that a lot of comic book movies go for nowadays, but neither is it satirizing the classic comic book style like the last costume did.

They should've picked one direction and run full speed with it. This half measure costume looks bad.

I don't think it looks "really" terrible, but I do hope it will look better in action or that there'll be other shots that can maybe do it more justice.

I don't love the look of that cowl, but I think some of the above responses are a little extreme. I'm just glad they're not replicating the Warburton look and are putting something over his face.

Seems they were going for more of a bug look with the texture. The design could be making fun of modern superhero TV/film suits.

Fix the eyeholes and make the antennae a bit thicker and the look would improve immensely.

I see what they are going for, it is clearly meant as satire of the modern trend of super hero movies. I prefer the original, but its not awful.

My problem is that it's not over the top enough. For the joke to really hit, it needs to be more exaggerated.

The body is okay - I can see what they're going for with the insect look.

Cow just doesn't work, and I hope they can redesign is sooner rather than later. It needs to be basically the same shape of the Warburton one, especially with the defined jaw and covered chin, and the part over the face should probably look a bit like John Wesley Shipp's flash cowl - those round eye things look too much like spectacles, and his nose needs to be covered a bit. It can have some of that insect texturing too, it just needs a more defined shape. And maybe a better sculpted/more powerful neck.

We've seen so many cowls now that prove a good-looking cowl can be done, so really there's no reason this can't look better.

...maybe a better sculpted/more powerful neck.
This ^ It will likely all be (and look) appropriately funny, but the Tick for all his earnest, has an over-the-top powerful look about him. Here I'm getting more an Ambush Bug / Chapuline vibe than the Tick.

Anyway hopefully the delivery is there, and Haley as The Terror will carry this.

The Tick stars Peter Serafinowicz (Guardians of the Galaxy), Griffin Newman (“Vinyl”), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen), Valorie Curry (“House of Lies”), Yara Martinez (“Jane the Virgin”) and Brendan Hines (“Scorpion”).

Who makes up the rest of the cast?

Griffin Newman - Arthur?
Valorie Curry - Captain Liberty? American Maid? New?
Brendan Hines - Batmanuel? Die Fledermaus ? New?
Yara Martinez???

Are they going the cartoon rout and using American Maid and Die Fledermaus ?

The last guy looks facially more like the Tick than the guy who was actually cast.
