AMC's Hell on Wheels

Damn, that was an unusual finale. I really liked it though. I just hope moving the show to Saturdays didn't hurt the ratings too much. Because I really want to see where the story goes now. It will be interesting seeing if Bohannon truly does adjust to married life or if The Swede decides to murder his new wife and child (I have a feeling he's scheming to do just that). I'm also pretty positive Elam is still alive, although you can never really tell who is and who isn't going to survive this show, since we saw Lily Bell and the preacher both die, and Joseph apparently leave for parts unknown). One other thing... Does anyone else wonder if Mickey was the real Boston Strangler and not his brother? The way he was looking at those women at the end and the suspicious way he killed his brother makes me wonder.

Also... I know I'm being a sleaze here but, I REALLY want Louise and Eva to have a love scene next season. :woot:

Has a fourth season been confirmed?

Not yet. I hope it will be though. Ratings have dipped a bit (likely due to the change in timeslot) but that had to be expected; no one watches TV on Saturdays. I hope they use their brains next time around and move it back to Sundays.

See, because of having a DVR I don't care what day something airs. Some of my favorite shows air on Tuesday. It seems odd to me that that should even matter. :)

I imagine AMC will renew it now that Breaking Bad, The Killing, and (soon to be) Mad Men are done. Gotta have something to tide things over when they aren't showing The Walking Dead and spin-off shows.

That's the approach many of us take, but there are some people who are stuck in old ways. And even if you're not, switching up timeslots like that can lead to people not even realizing that a show has premiered. I didn't even realize Hell on Wheels had come back this season until the second week or so because I switched cable providers about a month before and hadn't set up all my DVR recordings. Now, for a more casual viewer (and not a big fan like myself) they might realize they missed a week or two and just figure the hell with it and stop watching the show altogether. I've done this with other shows that I wasn't entirely engrossed in.

It's hard to say which was "The Boston Strangler" because both guys are obviously pretty bananas. I get the impressions neither of them is/was terribly sane when it comes to the fairer sex.

Yeah. Although I have to say, I'm glad Sean is gone. I was never too crazy about either of them, but Sean was really getting on my nerves this season.

I agree. Sean was pretty useless, I was glad his brother (psychotic or not) finally had enough of him.

Yeah. I wonder what will happen with Ruth next season. They seemed to be shaping her into a new love interest with Bohannon, but I can't see that happening now that he's married. Joseph disappeared, so I guess that story is over, though maybe he'll come back. And she doesn't have to worry about Sean stalking her anymore. I guess she'll be taking care of Ezra, who will likely expose the Swede to the Mormons for what he really is, though that might take some time.

I thought that was what was going to save Bohannan from hanging in the past ep, but i guess the show runners want to drag that out a bit longer.

Watched the last 4 eps of the season tonight, the shootout in Cheyenne in ep9 was fantastic even if the Mormons did seem to just keep coming like sprites in an old videogame.

Cullen's face when he saw the girl was pregnant, followed by his face when he saw the Swede was the visual epitome of ****tiest week ever! :funny:

He might have thought to ask the girl how old she was before he banged her in the barn, but at least he asked if she wanted to be his before her Dad traded her off like cattle. :csad:

Elam better not be dead, his speech to the men after Bohannon was taken was fantastic and he deserves better than death via random grizzly bear.

I'm not keen on the weird out of nowhere direction things have gone with the Irish brothers, I'd rather they just killed them both off.

I have to think they knew they were getting a 4th season before they made this finale, no way they'd leave it with the closing shot of Bohannon's realization of now being fully under the Swede's control.

I thought the 'act' was interrupted and they didn't actually get to do it..all the way. I was thinking for a second the father was the one who actually got her pregnant, but Bohannan didn't protest so either he actually is the father....or he's taking care of the girl and the child out of guilt for hanging the boy....?

I was thinking the same thing, but Bohannon knew that she was his best chance of not being hung so maybe he's just going along with it for now.

I like where Bohannan is at the end of this season. One of my favorites characters on tv. Everytime i see him, i keep wishing Mount was the next Batman.
I feel the same on all points.

Man, you just reminded me of that all over again. In an episode that was especially well shot, that gun fight really stood out. An absolutely spectacular sequence, I'm tempted to go back and watch that one sequence again.

Yeah I'm surprised AMC hasn't ordered another 10 episodes. Next month for sure they'll have something so they can prep the writers room over the winter and start filming in Alberta in the spring.

It moved to Saturdays and did well there, better than The Killing's third season on Sundays. They've got 3 new dramas for 2014 and Low Winter Sun had terrible ratings so I would say its safe to say HoW will be back for next year, will probably go for five seasons.

Low winter sun didn't interest me at all. I am not surprised it was so so.

AMC Renews Hell on Wheels for Fourth Season

AMC announced today that it renewed its original Western drama Hell on Wheels for an expanded fourth season. For its third season, Hell on Wheels was moved to Saturday – a day that AMC has traditionally devoted to classic Western films and television shows – and the show attracted a larger audience than it had in its second season on Sunday nights. In its third season, Hell on Wheels delivered an average audience of 3.3 million viewers, live and with three days of time shifting...

Good for them. I'll gladly watch another season. :)

So who watched the first episode of season 4?

Lots of great set up! I'm loving Cullen and The Swede's silent battle, especially that last scene where Bohanon was winding The Swede up something fierce.

This new governor character and his cohorts look like they're going to cause no end of trouble. I'm glad Durant is up to his old shady tricks.

And how about that opening scene? Damn!

Curious to see where Eva's story is going too, she just seems continually get kicked around.
