You know, there's a fine line between being a "good guy" and simply being someone who sticks their nose in everybody elses business. The U.S. has tended to involve itself in EVERYTHING that goes on in this world with a certain air of arrogance and an idea that things should be how WE say they should be. The US does stick its nose in other peoples problems, I mean let's not forget they accused a country of having Weapons of Mass Destruction, invaded that country without evidence and are meant to be seen lightly in the world? And I'm for removing dictators but there's more than one dictator in the world whom sitll exist, and the invasion of Iraq annoys people even more so since Bin Laden suddenly disappeared from the headlines.

And as for helping out countries, I'm sure all the following countries were grateful after US bombed them : China, Japan, N Korea, Cuba, Laos, Cambodia, Libya, El salvador, Somalia, Bosnia, Sudan, Nicaragua, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan. . . and there's some I can't remember.

What did we do in Iraq? We threatened to send troops over with out any armor and we kind of just left them there to stand around and get killed.

To be honest though I don't see what's to be jealous at, I mean America has alot of wealth which is cool but there's high levels of crime, gun crimes are crazy people shooting each other in schools, a Healthservice that doesn't exactly represent equity very well and so on. America is great so long as you can afford to live there. So I don't really see what's to be jealous at nowadays

You bring up a good point. It's like in Huckleberry Finn when the blacks and other poor people are murdering eachother it's "Savegery" but when the uperclass are killing eachother (The Grangerfields and Shepperdsons) it's just a feud.

I could not even condescend to believing I know what it is like for muslim and arab americans right now. I cant imagine what it must feel like to be living in our country when such a high percentage of the people believe everything the media spins on.:heart:

Precisely. The killing of innocents during the invasion of Iraq (and need I say for which no weapons of mass destruction have yet to be presented...) is determined as "casualties of war" but 9/11 is a described as barbaric.

From Bin Laden's point of view, the deaths of 9/11 are "casualties from war" and from USA's point of view the deaths are barbaric.

What both Bin Laden and the US don't realise is, in fact what humanity will never grasp, and it's pretty simple, that bloodshed will only cause further bloodshed.

I studied Islam as part of what American would call High School (commonly to UK people it was a GCSE) and what I learnt about what Islam means and what it takes to be a true Muslim has nothing to do with killing innocent lives or anything like that. It is a complete submission to god that has universal human morals. I'm not muslim incase people reading thinking "well he's only saying that cos he's probably a muslim himself".
