Anybody in the information technology field? ??

So I decided to go back school and I got accepted to Arizona State University. I'm getting my bs in information technology. To those in the field what kind of jobs would I be looking for? How's the pay and do I need any certifications.

I don't work in it...but I think certifications are pretty important. Jobs are pretty good, but I will say at companies I've worked at, some areas are susceptible to off-shoring. I'd say learning a very unique language like COBOL or willing to work for small companies are probably best bet:

As before, I'd recommend sticking with smaller companies or non-profits in small communities. I'd probably stay away from public corporations. Corporations seem to hire IT folks as contractors ...I know some folks are ok with that and like on individual projects and moving around...but I'd imagine that be hassle for some and lead to uncertain job security. You want to work on projects that are core to business of the company.

I think database management is probably good field...it tends to require people understanding the business and requires more intimate security knowledge

Yes the was the site that actually convince me to do it. Definitely looking at becoming software or cloud developer
