Anyone Else Getting Linked to Porn When Viewing Hype on iPad?

Is this happening to anyone else?

It only happens on my iPad, and it only happens when viewing the Hype forums. It has happened 3 times now. I'll click to go to a new screen on the forums, or click to reply to a thread, and I'll be redirected to a page called "Uporn", with a big full-screen shot of a woman sticking something indecent in her mouth. I've never accessed any porn on my iPad, or anything other than major, respectable sites, and as I said, this only ever seems to happen on the Hype, particularly only when I'm viewing it on my iPad. What could be causing it?

It sounds like specific advertising related to the iPad to me. I know certain advertisers will customize their ads to different formats like mobile from a desktop so it maybe something related.

Or it's a weirdly specific virus or malware that enjoys sending people to porn sites from the iPad. You never know these days.

You might want to install AdBlock or some other ad blocking software is your iPad supports it. Also, scan for viruses or malware because it sounds like your browser itself is being redirected to the porn site by a virus. I'm sure you know about sites that can infect your computer with viruses that hijack your browsers to porn or ransomware sites. A few years back I ran into a really nasty one that installed a rootkit which not only hijacked my browsers but also prevented the PC from performing any other functions. You'll want to make sure that nothing nasty is hidden on your hard drive ASAP.

On iPad when I'm on the desktop version I'm getting some weird page popping up and I can only get to the main forum page for a few seconds. I managed to flick on switch to mobile version but I can't get on the desktop version at all. Anyone know what to do?

That happened to me one time, though not on SHH.

My main issue while visiting SHH though is that I've been redirected to an add and I'll have to hit the back button to see the site.

This is happening to me now. I've stopped seeing porn links now. Instead, whenever I try to visit Hype on my iPad, I get redirected to the Apple app store, with a prompt to buy Candy Crush Saga or some other crappy game. It doesn't happen on any other website when I'm on my iPad, and it doesn't happen on Hype when I'm on my laptop.

I'm not getting porn, but I'm getting spam pop ups on my iPad as well. I don't get pop ups on any other site but this one.

Yeah happening to me as well. Had the porn site a bunch of times and some random game ads. It has to be an advert on here, I didn't think you could actually get viruses or malware on ipads

If it's a computer, it can get malware. Never underestimate the ingenuity of people with too much time and too little morality on their hands.

The problem with screen caps is it's not possible. You click on any link on the site and it redirects you. I just got redirected when I clicked this thread. I hit the back button and click the thread again it works normally

As for any computer gets malware I'd say it's got to be an ad problem due to it happening to more than one of us on different iPads.

Nope, threads all over the site. Just happened for on in sports, that did redirect on a second attempt. That's why I'm convinced it's an ad

It comes in fits and starts. Over the past few days there has been improvement, with hardly any unwelcome redirects. But right now it's terrible, with just about every page you click on redirecting you to the iTunes App Store with a request to download some program. And when you press "back" on your browser it takes you back to the page you were on BEFORE the page that redirected you, and sometimes THAT page then redirects you too, so you end up browsing backwards rather than forwards. I hope you guys can get to the bottom of this soon, as it's really ruining my experience of what has long been one of my favourite sites.

It's not limited to any particular thread or board, it's just the forum in general. It can be on boards, on comment threads, or new reply pages it happens.

So it's malware that somehow is targeting iPads. This sounds similar to the one that hit last winter that would redirect people to an ad for some AntiVirus Software.
