Anyone else notice this?

Well guys, My "Covert OP" for the Hype is complete.... And i didnt get arrested!!!!! So i guess ill start from the beginning... As soon as i heard about MSJs ET event over at the Hollywood Cemetery, i knew i had to crash it. Although i had my ex with the BIG HOOTERS lined up to go with me, i ended up going with my buddy mike who has a nicer car, and i thought that might help out when we got to the cemetery.. I had no idea what kind of security would be there but it ended up not being that big of a deal.We started going north on the 5fwy to the hollywood 101 north until you get to Santa Monica BLVD. then its just 1mile north on SM and BOOM!!!! your there. BTW fact #1, Its not called Hollywood Cemetery. The event was at Hollywood Forever.. Its a Cemetery with a lot of Golden age Stars and studio execs inturrned there..(fun fact: Not only is this cemetery butted up against the Paramount Pictures studio lot, but they do show movies ON the cemetery Mosulium. Its usually done around the anniversery of a famous actors death. you can show up with a blanket and a picnic basket and watch a movie right there in the grass..) So we pulled up to the entrance of the HFC, and the only Security there was a rent a cop in a white and black polo shirt. the entrance was closed but the exit was open.. Now the key to Holywood is this....Act like you belong and no one will question you.. So yes we got right in without too much trouble from security..(fun fact: I know this area well because of my Uncle.. He was a Costume Designer in hollywood for 40 years, and when i first moved to Cali from Wisconsin, i used to hang out at the Paramount lot during the summer. I was either at the Star Trek TNG set hanging out or id be in the Paramount Costume dept helping my uncle catalog old costumes.)Now when we drove into the HFC, everything was blacked out except for red lights far off to our left. We drove straight back where Paramount and the Cemetery butt up against each other and took a left....AND THERE IT WAS.. GR on the side of the Mosulium.. Sony did a pretty good job with the set up.. the lights were covered with BIG RED GLOBES to give the event a creepy vibe. White rental chairs about 10 rows deep in the center. And there was various round tables far from where we parked. We were about 100yrds from the event and were trying to decide how close we could go without getting into trouble.. Now heres the crappy part. I decided not to take any pics while the event was going on as to not draw any attention to ourselves.. It had already started and we were soo far back that it wouldnt have mattered anyway.I also didnt know how MSJ would feel about this and wanted to respect his and Sonys event.. I remember how MSJ and the guys at Comicon asked us NOT to take pics and video during the video presentation and thought that the same SHOULD apply here..Now as far as what we saw??? not much.. It was sort of ending when we got there and as the crowd started breaking up we walked closer to check things out..sorry guys. I FAILED YOU!!!! We did overhear a conversation that was of some interest though.. A woman in her 40s with obviously dyed black hair was talking to someone on the phone. Her side of the conv. was something to the effect of" Yeah, it just ended..... it looks amazing..... " Now it seems to me that this wasnt a Journalist , but someone from Sony...I dont know... In the end of this somewhat uneventful adventure, we hung out for a bit more, watching the trucks come in and start loading up the sound and video equipment. I walked over to one of the BIG RED GLOBES that was lit up to take a better look at the set up.. IF ONLY WE GOT THERE SOONER!!!!! Again, sorry guys, mabe next time... BTW we got there around 730 and left at about 820.. David

Yeah theres a little more that happened but not much.. I wish i was able to get there earlier to see the whole thing.. My buddy mike was a little taken back by the fact we could get caught.. My whole thing wasnt to see the footage, but to say that i was there...ill see the movie soon enough in Feb. Even if MSJ or the others were 5ft in front of me, i wouldnt have said anything or have drawn attention to myself.. I have a little exp. in this area from hanging at paramount when i was a teen. .. you just be yourself and not act like a dumbass..

Wisco, don't apologise. You get a big shiny A for effort from me.

I wonder whose idea it was to show the footage in a graveyard. That was a masterstroke.

And, Mark, if you're reading, I hope it went down well and everyone left gagging for more!

:hyper:

You failed, I have to cut off your kneecaps now

MSJ Rocks!!! That would have been awesome to see. I will watch for it for sure. :ghost:

From the ET website : Meanwhile, Nicolas Cage and EVA MENDES, stars of the upcoming fantasy-thriller-action flick 'Ghost Rider,' were on hand for a screening of their highly anticipated movie, and ET was the only show to chat with the stars.

In the movie, Oscar winner Cage plays Johnny Blaze, a motorcycle stuntman (based on a Marvel® comic's character) who gives up his soul and becomes a vigilante to save his girlfriend. The flick hits theaters February 16.

WiscoD!!! You should have let me know you were gonna crash! I would have put your name on the guest list! Next time we do an event pm me and I'll make sure you're covered. Event went great! But man it got cold out there!

Damn, I really wish I lived near the good stuff. Excelent try through Wisco. Thanks for the report!

I just got a google news email with the following info about the clips presented. Enjoy!

At a recent event held by Columbia, at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, for their highly anticipated film Ghost Rider, we were given the privilege of screening some early footage from the movie.

In order to save his dying father, young stunt cyclist Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage) sells his soul to Mephistopheles and sadly parts from the pure-hearted Roxanne Simpson, the love of his life. Years later, Johnny's path crosses again with Roxanne (Eva Mendes), now a gogetting reporter, and also with Mephistopheles, who offers to release Johnny's soul if Johnny becomes the fabled, fiery Ghost Rider, a supernatural agent of vengeance and justice. Mephistopheles (Peter Fonda) charges Johnny with defeating the despicable Blackheart, Mephistopheles' nemesis and son, who plans to displace his father and create a new hell even more terrible than the old one.

The event began with director Mark Steven Johnson coming out and explaining that the footage we were seeing was just a taste of what the movie was going to contain. He even said that they were still working on portions of the film and that they would be doing so until the end of the January.

Clip 1

The first clip we saw featured Johnny Blaze on the motorcycle. As he began to ride it, flames started coming off the wheels and the bike itself. As Johnny Blaze rode past various cars and stores, the automobiles seemed to blow up just by virtue of their location. Windows to stores shattered and it's apparent that Blaze is capable of a lot of destruction when he's on the bike. A motorcycle officer tries to clock him on his radar, but Johnny zooms by him and the officer goes flying as well.

Blaze finally gets to a shop where he too is thrown off the bike. Suddenly, he starts to shake as his body is overcome with fire and he turns into the Ghost Rider. His motorcycle is soon engulfed in flames and it is eventually transformed into an entirely different bike itself. The image of the skeleton in the leather jacket seems really well created on film. It's movements, mainly the tiny nuances, have all been captured by the CGI team.

Clip 2

In the second clip Johnny Blaze seems to be trying to understand and control his newfound power. In the midst of trying to manipulate some fire coming out of his arm, he is visited by Roxanne who wants to know why he stood her up. Things get hot and heavy between the two characters and it is here that Johnny Blaze tells he sold his soul to devil and why. He tells her about the fire, what's happening to him, how it only happens at night, and she doesn't believe a word of it. We eventually cut to an outside shot of Roxanne driving off, leaving Johnny Blaze in the middle of the street, because she thinks he'd rather make up fantastical stories than be with her.

Clip 3

With Metallica's music pounding, the police force, SWAT team, and helicopters pursue the Ghost Rider as he battles Blackheart and some of his men. Ghost Rider then starts to ride up the side of an enormous glass building, leaving shards of broken glass behind him. At this point Roxanne sees him moving up the building and, ever the roving reporter, realizes she must get to the scene.

Ghost Rider eventually makes his way to the top of the building where he is confronted by a helicopter. Using a chain for a lasso, Ghost Rider manages to wrangle the helicopter toward him and warns him to get out of there. The helicopter pilot agrees and Ghost Rider begins to do battle with one of Blackheart's men. After some give and take where Ghost Rider is told, "You can't catch the wind," Ghost Rider manages to lasso him, and begins to spin the chain, disintegrating Blackheart back into hell.

Then Ghost Rider rides off the building and slams down on the ground in front of everyone. He steps off the bike and Roxanne, who is in front of the crowd, suddenly realizes that Johnny Blaze wasn't lying after all. The police and SWAT teams start to open fire on Ghost Rider, riddling him with bullets that don't seem to have much of an effect. Ghost Rider then creates a flame that pushes everyone back, and in that moment, jumps on his bike and disappears.

Riding through the night until morning, Ghost Rider finally stops when he gets to a graveyard. He begins convulsing as the sun comes up and he turns back into Johnny Blaze. He then crawls off the bike and ends up at the headstone of Barton Blaze, his father. At this moment, he is greeted by the Caretaker (Sam Elliot) who simply says, "Hello, bonehead."

Clip 4

Then, the last image we see is that of the Ghost Rider in the flames riding through the desert with a man on horseback who is also in flames. As they move, they burn up animals and other growth that is in the vicinity of their path. While it isn't explicitly stated, it seems that the Caretaker is the man on horseback riding next to the Ghost Rider. With flames burning and their movements slowed, this whole vibe of this scene had the feel of an apocalyptic western. The mixture of music and images gave all the clips a very full feel.

Ghost Rider opens February 16, 2007 from Columbia Pictures.

Well guys, ET showed some stuff tonight, but not much...not much AT ALL. No MSJ in their clips, just Cage and Mendes.

And I think the clip was only about 7 seconds long..they just explained what they were doing in the cemetary.

Maybe MSJ can sneak a little more footage onto the net for us... (I'd LOVE to just see a 5 second clip of him lassoing the helicopter and telling the pilot to stay away)

too bad about the footage though...hoping they would at least talk about it!

EDIT:

they have some interviews w/ Cage and Eva M. on GR. at least thats something.

Damn that ET! Figures! MSJ gives them an exclusive and they blow it! Maybe MSJ should have Mary Hart do a cameo in GR 2 and have the chain wrap around her head and drag her down the street! :ghost: Oh wait. Did I say that in my outloud voice. Whoops. Ghost Rider!

Well, in my experience, what they do is save the footage for the future when its closer to the release date. Id imagine that youll see more footage from last night starting in January. They will make it seem as if the event just happened. So dont worry guys, when the AD campaign begins, ET will come through with the goods....David

Actually WiscoD, I'm thinking (more like hoping and praying) that we'll see some (if not all) of the footage shown last night in the special "First Look: Ghost Rider" preview playing in AMC Theatres all this month!

MSJ, can you confirm this?
