Don't get me wrong it's not bad but with the exception of a few familiar elements it's almost unrecognizable as the series we are accustomed to.
Maybe Mark figured that having two magic-users trying to outscheme one another would probably make the story too complicated.
Two villains in particular take center stage, Loki and a dokkalfar warrior prince. Loki is described looking and acting exactly like one expects him to but his ally is basically this guy...if he was mute and had wings. Oh and instead of a spear he has a sword that kills anyone it touches . I don't know why they didn't opt to adhere a little more closely to the background and make Mr. Faerie a sorcerer with some proficiency at hand to hand combat instead.
