Anyone else think the movie industry is just using us as easy money making targets?

This wave of superhero films has probably peaked and a large percentage of the quality of films that come out hereafter aren't going to make many waves. I mean its unbelievable when there was a time where you couldn't get any superhero movies being made and now we have SIX in one year

Iron man
Hulk
Wanted
The dark Knight
Hancock
Hellboy 2

surely there is just because we as fans have been seen as a big money making market and they are bleeding us all dry while trying to maintain that these films are being made for our benefit?

I mean cinematically average films like spidey 2, x-men 2 and batman begins are regarded highly while weak films like spidey 3 and the last stand go off and break box office records.

It's easy to see that as a production team, one doesn't necessarily have to reach for the stars in order to please 'us' and make money since we'll get away with ordinary.

Are we forever going to be targeted by hollywood as an easy money making spin in the same way as how reality tv has targeted and saturated the television market?

Oi, 7. You forgot Punisher: War Zone is coming out in Sep.

...the life out of his enemies.

I think Iron Man and The Dark Knight will do really well. Not sure about Incredible Hulk but Norton is a good actor like Downey Jr. and Bale so it could end up doing well also. The other movies may not find as much success as IM, TDK, and TIH.

If it was just the superhero fans who went to see the movies, they wouldn't be making more. Its because million of the average movie-goers go to see them.

Millions of people will go to see whatever is on just because to be honest.

Everyone likes a summer blockbuster but it seems now that they have taken the summer blockbuster and made it a superhero movie theme one so fans are the ones causing an influx of cash going in.

I mean the whole viral marketing thing is really a shame because they are inevitably already preaching to the converted. our bucks are as good as already taken unless it happens to be really poor.

It's true . We can only go see what is being offered. These studioes are looking for franchises and it's easy to do . Especially if yo have a superhero who can have endless adventures, merchandising and other movie tie-ins.
we are easy money targets but they should at least respect us by offering good movies and meeting the demands of the fan.

I think Hollywood is realizing that people want FUN movies, but with some depth and great characters. Superhero movies have all of those. And thankfully they are being done with great quality...with a few exceptions.

You pretty much answered your own question with your first line here. The fact that some are based on comics is that there are a lot of unoriginal people that can't come up with there own ideas. Any idea how many movies are based on books? most of em

The Punisher is awesome! Maybe not so much in the movies but he still rules!

i actually have no faith in the Hulk, IronMan, Hellboy 2, Wanted, or The Punisher War Zone films.... :o

Hell even the New Wolverine film.... :csad:

i was just dissapointed WAY to many times to give a damn about any new Superhero film coming out anymore....with the exception of The Dark Knight..which i thinks going to be great :O

Maybe i'm just tired...just so damn tired...

Hollywood will forever see us as walking money bags that are willing to spend it on anything slightly nerd or geek related, because of the fact that we generate so much buzz for these kinds of movies. And the more buzz, the more money. No matter how good/bad a movie is, if it has buzz, it will sell. Thats why SM3 and X3 broke records, buzz, not quality.

Unfortunately for me, I believe this recent decade long trend is starting to ear a little bit thin in my eyes...

I'd like to see another sector of society being 'picked' on.

As greatful as we come across, I can't help but feel that a translation of comics to the film media ultimately underminds the original source material and true faithful adaptations are indeed rare.

They reflect badly not only on comic books but comic book fans. Everything is watered down to what the average movie goer would expect to see from 'comic books'. It doesn't really help the evolution process.

and we are the ones forking out the bill for it and arguing over ourselves about how greatful we should be for even getting a movie in the first place?

I mean is a movie translation really the highest accolade for a comic book tale. Surely the comic itself (or perhaps a graphic novel addition of it) should suffice.
