When I was in middle school, my 7th grade science teacher told us(class) that a person can lift a car off of a loved one. Adrenaline would spike up to the point where the person could lift the car up off the person...but then will be drained(bed rest) for days due to the excessive amount of strength that it would take to do this.

My question is...has anyone here read or heard of such a thing? The only thing I could find was this...

Dude, that reminds me of Unbreakable.

Which is a kickass movie.

Yeah. Reminded me of some episode of that old Hulk series. Haven't heard of any true stories of it though.

Actually, in that episode of the Hulk, I think he couldn't lift the car so he started searching for answers to why, lol. And that's how he became the Hulk, 'cause the experiment went wrong. My dad had the episode on tape or something and I was watching it with him, and he brought up the adrenaline thing. That's the extent of my experience with this stuff. I can totally see it happening though.

I remember this thing on that Rescue 911 show hosted by William Shatner, where this big guy lifted a helicopter off his friend. The guy was big but there shouldn't have been any way that he could have lifted the helicopter. At least that's what they said, and banked it on adrenaline.

Yeah that's all I got....

any time someone discusses a person having "superhuman strength" I can only support the argument that if a mom lifts a car off her baby with adrenaline, it's human strength. completely human. a result of adrenaline, but everyone has adrenaline, it's a completely normal human function. when someone throws a car across the street and can't be done by someone else... I will agree they have superhuman strength.

Ok. Could a person lift a car for no reason? Like if there's no one they know or love underneath it? I don't think so. Maybe if they are really strong, yeah, but not a normal person. I don't think a person adrenaline level would spike that high for basically no reason.

There is an instance from the 50's of a woman lifting a car off of a 5 yearold pinned underneath.

I've seen 5 people lift a car, but not one. I doubt superhuman strength exists. The extent of positive mutation essentially leads to breeding more children, being more adaptable to your surroundings (skin color for example), but that's all.
