Anyone want to help me in my Geometry Homework?

hey hey calm down
i just came to ask a few questions to my fellow board members,
no need to show enmity here!

Otherwise, your problem isn't math: it's reading comprehension, and that's something I just can't help you with.

Guess you were another person that did well on the math section buI ****ed up the verbal section on the SAT's too eh?

I Need Help, its due tomorrrow...dont know what im doing
Any Help Would Be Appreciated! Thanks!

1. Each base on a standard baseball diamond lies 90 feet from the next. Find the distance the catcher must throw a baseball from 3 feet behind home plate to second base.

draw a diamond shape then label each distance between corners 90 ft. draw two lines between the bases... you should end up with 4 pieces. at the center of the diamond each piece should a make 90 degree angle for a total of 360, but you only need one pieces..alright now you have that 90 degree angle and the hypotonuse(sp?) 90 ft. use sine and cosine functions to get the verticle and horizontal distances.once you get those add the horizontal or vertical distances with the 3 ft. since you want to find the distance from the catcher to second base double the vertical distance you got for that one piece and then add 3ft.

hope thats right.

2. A train is traveling up a slight grade with an angle of inclination of only . After traveling 1 mile what is the vertical change in feet?

whats the angle of inclination? if they give to you just use the 1mile as the horizontal or adjacent distance. and use sin or cosine and convert mile to ft

3. Water Slide. The angle of elevation from the base to the top of a waterslide is about 13˚. The slide extends horizontally about 58.2 meters. Estimate the height of the slide.

i solved the first two for you now use your own brain.

4. Water Slide. The “Drop of Death” water slide advertised that it drops 6 floors. If a “floor” is considered to be 4 meters high and the slide extends horizontally about 10 meters. Estimate the angle of depression of the slide.

6. Hiking. You are hiking up a mountain peak. You begin hiking a trailhead whose elevation is about 9400 feet. The trail ends near the summit at 14,255 feet. The horizontal distance between where you started and stopped is about 17,625 feet. Estimate the angle of elevation from the trailhead to the summit.

7. Ramps. The Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards specify that the ramp angle used for a wheelchair ramp must be less than or equal to 4.76˚. The length of one ramp is 20 feet. The vertical rise is 17 inches. Estimate the ramp’s horizontal distance and its ramp angle. Does this ramp follow the UFA Standards?

8. A 48-inch wide screen television means that the measure along the diagonal is 48 inches. If the screen is square, what are the dimensions of the length and width?

9. The doorway of the family room measures 6.5 feet by 3 feet. What is the length of the diagonal of the doorway?

dude you only have to use like 3 mathematical formulas for any of this problems. I gave you all you need to know in the first two to solve the rest.

you owe me one.

actually for number 2 make the 1 mile the hypotonuse(sp?) distance. and use sine, cosine, or tan or the phytgoareas theorem to find the vertical distance.

I think Im confusing myself.:(

i did sin(2) x 5,280
i got 184.27

.....

Ahhh, I remember being in Geometry....I BSed my entire way through geometry and passed with a D. Now I'm in college :o

LOL no, I just mean that I can't teach him how to read/visualize the problems over the interweb in less than a day. :woot:

My sister has terrible reading comprehension, so even if she understands the basic math behind them, she still can't do them for the life of her. I've tried to explain things to her, and it's terribly difficult even in person.

It seems to me that unless he gets some special tutoring/help, this guy is doomed with regards to this class. =/
