APB shut down

Not surprising at all considering they were charging people to play what basically amounted to a sub-par third-person shooter with a hub world.

I never actually played APB (not much into GTA style games) but having watched previews on how in depth the customizing of your character was, APB certainly had some degree of potential.

But then you watch this and see how not great it actually was.

"We were complacent about business planning, deciding to spend all our investment getting APB to launch, assuming that we would sell zillions of copies and over-spending on server hardware. "When we were told we were being made redundant, we were told something along the lines of 'the market is just so bad right now ... We could never have predicted this ... Even our worst sales projections were so much higher than this'. I think that was supposed to be consolation but it was just complacent, and dumb."

...

:lmao:

79 days! they couldn't even keep the game alive for 3 months. 3 months! god that's funny.

I hope that DC Universe Online does not suffer this fate thanks to pay to play. Even Lord Of The Rings Online went Free To Play after being Pay To Play

Yea... I bet they can get some more people to play LOTRO, but how much longer can it last I dont know

It's no surprise...they had a horrible business model. It's a wonder how the person in charge of ok'ing that decision even got his job in the first place.
