Are the Japanese really so technologically advanced?

Before anyone hits the report button or flames me, I'm telling you right now that this is a genuine question that's been on my mind for quite some time.

In the movie Transformers when the main character (Shia Lebeauf) sees Bumblebee transform, he makes a remark saying that the robot is probably from Japan. This clearly states that people assume that technologically advanced weaponry/devices are automatically from Japan. What I want to know is, where exactly does this come from? Besides a few phones, tiny televisions, and that ASIMO robot, where is some solid evidence of this "superior technology"?

Nah there technology is not so advanced.

I hear they have like, these giant robots. Like, everyone has one. And then, if like, Godzilla attacks or something, they get in the robots and fight them. And if they get beat, they can hook all their robots together to make one huge f**king robot. Also, I hear there are a bunch of vengeful teenage female ghosts that are always hiding in video tapes and cellphones, so they have to constantly upgrade all their technology to make it ghost-proof, and that's why they're so far ahead of us.

I've never been to Japan, but I have a friend who has. One of the first things she remarked about was the cell phone technology there made it seem like they were in 2020 or something.

So I'm guessing the answer is yes. :funny:

Well, they do have taxis with automatic doors, an efficient train system, payphone debit cards, robotic dogs, underwear in vending machines, giant robos, atomic monsters, and super sentai strike forces.

What the **** for?!?!?!?!:lmao:

They've got all kinds of vending machines. Even Hot Ramen vending machines. I so need to go to Japan once.

Here's a list of all different kinds of vending machines they have.

I've heard from several sources they have them in vending machines...including Chris Jericho's book...and The Lionheart would never lie :cmad:

HA! I told you all!

This vending machine has truly bizarre contents... 'used' schoolgirl panties! We had heard that such machines existed but had never seen them. A colleague came across this machine in suburban Tokyo just recently (May 2002). This particular machine is a converted cigarette machine that now takes 10,000 yen notes (about US$80 bills). The current contents run from 1000 to 3000 yen.

But they don't get them over here. And they seem to just go "that's a great product, let's put it in a vending machine!" to every single thing you can buy over there.

robotics and cars maybe. i really wouldn't say that Japan is all that more technologically advanced. it's not like they all have zero emission cars or anything. their gadgets are slightly better, but i wouldn't say that have SUPERIOR technology. they just excel.

I heard that Japanese people really do embrace technologies moreso than other countries. I heard from a friend that when she went to Japan, she stayed at the hotel and saw that their toilets have so many buttons that adjusted for their convenience, such as playing music and chair warming, among other things. There are vending machines everywhere, and they are just more accostumed to use technologies in everyday lives.

Japan is just more kitschy than we are. Most of the stuff they make is just because they can, though on occasion it's something that honestly will benefit the greater good.

Self-warming toilets?

Step up, Western world! We're living in the ****ing dark ages! :cmad:

"The toilet reccomended a place called Americatown".

Now this is cool:

Parking Garage Machine
The entire building is a parking machine. Just drive your car into the bay. Each bay rotates through the building to maximize usage of space. Your parking ticket will retrieve your car back to the bottom bay. You back out your car onto the rotating circle. It will turn your car so you can drive out straight!
