6 movies, 3 directors, 4 men wearing the cowl and it hasn't happened yet.

The Nolan batarangs look like they could get lodged into someone's skin and since Bane is a real tough dude, maybe he'll take a few to the body.

EDIT: There was that lame remote control batarang in Batman Returns.

I try not to think about that device which you already acknowledged was lame. ANd that was an electronic bludgeoning device. I want to see him throw one at somebody.

I don't know if we will, but keep in mind that, in the comics as well as Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Arkham Asylum, there are multiple types of Batarangs for different purposes. The Batarang seen in Batman (1989) is very close to the comics (in purpose), as in the original comics before the grapnel gun came along in the movie itself, swinging on a Batarang with a rope was Batman's preferred method of travel. Shuriken types of Batarangs, such as those seen in the Nolan films, go back to Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. I think that the reason that we don't see the Batarangs thrown at people in the Nolan films is that would get bloody, possibly crossing the line into the R-rating, given their shuriken-esque nature.

I love Batman Returns but I always thought the remote Batarang was kind of silly. And yeah, throwing a Nolan Batarang is like tossing around a knife with five sharp edges. EDIT: Yeah, it's more like a shuriken.

And there was the Batarang in Batman 1989 that folds but it was used for a different purpose.

I thought that the remote control Batarang was cool, it was just stupid how it was caught by a dog. Also, I think you forgot the standard Batarang from Batman Forever:

Yes, this one that Mister Meddle posted:

It was the way the Batarang automatically detects it's targets and how everyone just stands there waiting to get hit. Even when I was a kid I thought that Batarang was silly but it was only used for ten seconds so it's not like it was a big deal.

By the way, the Forever Batarangs look quite heavy. Good luck tossing those.

Something like they did in Arkham Asylum would work. Stuns them, trips them, whatever it may be

I agree.

For what it's worth, wouldn't it be physically impossible for Batman to throw the Batarang which then knocks a full-grown man flat on his ass and keeping him down that long? Batman only has human strength, after all.

Nice.

Isn't that the cataract from the Arkham Asylum collectors edition?

He also had a grapple Batarang in the critically acclaimed fan pleaser, Batman & Robin. And the ones he fired from his wrist to save Robin & Chase in Batman Forever. But none of these was thrown at an enemy to knock him out or knock a weapon out of his hand.

The BB batarang was more like a mini bat signal.

"Yeah, this took out the freaking ceiling lights. IM COMIN FOR YOU B**CH!"

It has been used as a weapon, right? Didn't Batman use it in BB when he escapes from the train? Or was that just a normal explosive?

Used a Batarang to knock out the window and a mini-bomb to dislodge the train car. But that makes it a tool, not a weapon. I specifically said offensive weapon, as in one he'd throw at somebody's head.

Something else I just realized; he's holding on in the TDK poster but we don't see him use one in the entire movie. I always thought it would've made more sense for him to use one against Two-Face rather than get shot. When he flips the coin, his eyes are locked on it, you can throw a batarang and take him out.

I'm not sure what you mean by using one on Two Face. These Batarangs are more like shuriken than boomerangs, and it would more likely impale Two Face then disarm him by knocking the gun from his hand or knocking him down.

Throw it at his hand. Sever the nerves so he can't shoot. But like Joker said "he had to break his rule (again)". Two Face wasn't collateral damage, it was murder, had people discovered what Harvey became, Joker would win completely.

I don't think it has to be used as a weapon. I mean it serves a prupose greater than that. It can bring villians down and then move in for the kill.

A Batarang that severs Two-Face's nerves would probably risk him bleeding to death, and who's to say that Two-Face wouldn't shoot the boy while Batman is aiming at him? A hand is a small target that moves a lot, so it's a hard target to hit, especially with a slow-moving (compared to a bullet) projectile like a Batarang. And it's not breaking his rule. His rule is that he's no executioner, not that he won't kill. He didn't kill Two-Face to punish him as in an execution, he pushed him over the edge trying to save Gordon's son.

The police were there and could have taken him to hospital.

A thrown projectile is still faster than a Batman lying on the floor, standing up and then running over to Harvey.

Did Bruce intentionally throw Harvey off the building? He knew he had to throw him off, and that the fall would likely kill him, Joker made him break his rule.
