Maybe it's just me, but I get the feeling there's this all-out war all the time created by the media on any kind of control over a child. I'd like to see their definition of "strict" and compare it with all the loose parents who let their kids eat about 10,000 calories a day because they don't care and probably eat that much as well.

As a teacher, it disgusts me to see some parents trying to avoid disciplining their kid at every turn, and this is more fuel for their fire. I still remember one parent with a kid who weighed about 250 pounds and was 5'3'' and got to keep brownies and cupcakes in his room. Her excuse was that her other son did it, so why stop him?

If you weigh 250 lbs and are only 5'3, your ass is about two Ding Dongs away from a multiple corornary.
