Damn that Spain ad at the top of this board is really f**kin annoying!

Just read this on a belated lunch break..

SPOILERS!!!

'WAKE UP'
'YOU ARE NOT DEAD'
'NOT YET'

Almost the exact words the Green Goblin said to Spidey atop a building as he regained consciousness in Spider-Man / 2002

So Guggenheim back on scripts, and Jimenez back on pencils.
Kraven's First Hunt Part 1... I take it this gal is a descendant of Kraven.. :oldrazz:
I was not a fan of Jimenez's start on ASM, SS was good, but his others issues have been a bit hmmmm. I think he was drawing Spidey's eyes too big, and some of his anatomy looked wrong. In this issue his work is great. There is one panel in the comic store scene were PP's arm looks a bit weedy but mostly his art is solid and detailed.

Like most of you probably will, I got a kick out of the scene at Pete's LCS.
I had always wondered, but it was good to finally get confirmation that the real life superheros of 616 feature in their own comicbooks.

Reading the book, I got the feeling there was more than a few guys and gals from the Bullpen featuring in panel.
I don't know their faces, so I guess it's mostly the Bullpen who will get a kick out off this.

I thought the final scene of the book was really good.
the way it sucked the reader in, making you think one thing before revealing what had actually happened on the last page.
Of course it did not seem like Spidey getting abducted, but I still assumed it was.

The supporting cast felt more integrated here than previous issues and while we have seen others imitating Kraven in the past, I reckon this issue is a cut above the last few.
3.5 webs/5.

Also the letters page is a hoot!

I liked the issue, i hated Guggenheim's first "Jackpot/Menace" arc with a passion, but now it seems like he's going somewhere with this. Honestly as long as we get to see Daredevil and Spidey team up more, this arc will get a 5/5 from me.:yay:

Is this the one with a Daredevil teamup?

Does Spider-man still remember Daredevil's? As I recall Matt Murdock revealed himself AFTER sharing his knowledge of Pete's ID. Does Spidey still know and if so what does he remember about DD revealing himself...ie Does he remember that DD once knew his identity?

DD team up- check.

Do they know each others secret ID's- not revealed.

In ASM 546 they said that "NO ONE knows his identity, not daredevil, not wolverine, nobody...." so, there u have it.

Aloha,
I would think that now that DD has met Spidey again, if he should ever meet Peter Parker, he'll know. Same goes for Wolverine.
Spidey rules

Logically that would make sense but, i think marvel's intent on keeping peter's i.d. secret from everybody like it was back in the 60's. I dont mind that so much but i wish there was at least a couple of people, like daredevil, who still knew his secret. So now, all the marvel heroes have to re-discover spider-man's identity again, which is kinda stupid.

It was a big reason that I broke my promise to myself and bought a BND issue. That and I'm a Kraven fan. Hopefully, this kid will show more promise than Vladimir or Alyosha. (Not betting on it.) Alyosha had potential, but we see where that went. :cmad:

The issue didnt impress me. I'm glad I havent been wasting my money. Yet...I'm still gonna buy through the NWTD arc. :( Curse you JR Jr and Norman Osborn!

Funny you mention this in the thread that covers the latest issue where someone finds out who he is. :cwink:

Worst of all, though is the retcon of the EXCELLENT (and long overdue) secret id reveal between Peter and Johnny Storm...:cmad: :down

Anyway, back to the topic at hand; good issue. Are we all 100% sure the new villain is Kraven's daughter though? (legitimate or otherwise)...she seemed pretty green in some areas of the hunt. Also, i cant remember if Kraven's potions enhanced his senses...i know they did on the 90's toon, but was that the case in the comics as well? If so, she obviously doesnt have access to them, as evidenced by her huge faux pas on the last page.

Regardless, another good issue, and the art was fantastic. Im slowly getting more and more into the current continuity flow (or lack thereof? :cwink: ) of the new direction...actually curious to learn more about this new lady.

Did you read this issue?

Wow. So yeah, I just RE-READ the issue...don't know how I missed the whole twist at the end.

Yeah...I'm a ******.

But hey, the twist just makes the story and cliffhanger that much better.

Another fantastic issue! Great dialogue, great scenes, everything overall was great. I can't wait for the next issue. :word::word::word::up:

So is Brand New Day finished now?

This was the first issue since the new era started, that didn't have the BND banner at the top of the cover...

How many children is Kraven supposed to have??

The Grim Hunter was supposed to be his only kid. Then came Alyosha, who the Grim Hunter didn't know about, Kraven's OTHER only kid :whatever:

Is it really that far fetched to believe that Kraven got around?

It's slight nitpicking and it happened years ago, but I'm almost positive that the Grim Hunter was written to be Kraven's only child, and then Alyosha was written to be the brother that the Grim Hunter never knew about... I think it's silly for so many offspring to be running around that don't know about each other.

You might think it 'silly' but it happens in real life.

Absolutely. I dont find it out of the ordinary at all. Hell, a friend of mine at work just found out he has a half-brother down in Austraila, and these guys are in their fifties.

That stuff happens all the time.
