If they're trying to compete with Ratatoille and Kung Fu Panda they better step up the animation and rendering.

The teaser looked great to me - can't wait to see a full trailer in a few months. There may be some problems with the HD encoding in the teaser [at least for the 720p version] - it looked kind of pixelated to me.

but yeah this movie looks like a cheapened pixar superhero movie.

DarthSkywalker is right. At least it looks like a ****ing Astro Boy movie! Look at Dragon Ball Evolution...that looks nothing like its source material.

I've been waiting 3 years for this film, and since then, Speed Racer and the upcoming DBE movie have destroyed my hopes. Astro Boy will be the last chance I give Hollywood's take on animé movies.

the trailer looked awesome
the music was soo epic

i would much rather see a CGI astro boy movie,
than fox's dragonball z movie (if u can call it a dbz movie)

I hate hate IMAGI. They have generic designs and they lack the polish of Pixar or Dreamworks. I just want the best, not "just okay" for a property like this.

It doesn't look too bad. Imagi is a decent studio considering they work with budgets about 1/10 the size of Pixar's. I'm not expecting this movie to be a masterpiece, but it at least looks like they're staying fairly close to the source.

My biggest feat though, is that if this movie does well then we'll hear no end of Dragonball fanboys saying "See, see? The Dragonball Movie should have been teh CGI!"

The comparison is that the trailer to Astro Boy's flick looks like Astro Boy material, while DBE's trailers look nothing like anything Dragon Ball.

nooooo! i was looking forward to this.

so essentially money is the main problem right? money to pay the animators. couldnt they get a financer to step in but keeping the entire staff? based on the trailer alone the work looks very promising. who can step in at a time like this? Sony?
