I was watching Astro Boy, and animation wise I was really impressed. Reminded me of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. And unlike their first film, TMNT, Astro Boy had much better pacing.

But the thing that kept nagging me was the voice acting. Everyone was really lazy, like they didn't care. Besides Disney films, this the common factor in all animation. The actors are almost always lazy. In Astro Boy, Nathen Lane was the only actor who I thought was really good. I don't know if it's because he has experience in this, or because he's one of those few actors that give it their all in every performace.

Anyone else find any problems?

I just saw a preview for some wolf animated movie and the voice acting was terrible as well. It just looked like a terrible movie, animation was bleh too.

I think the reason why those films are terrible all around is because they try to maximize profit as much as they can and that is by cutting corners and not really caring.

There is still a stigma when it comes to animation, as if it isn't worth giving a good performance. Disney has a good reputation, so they get good performances. But Imagi is a nobody, so the actors don't feel that it's worth such a good performance. It's only a cartoon, after all
