“‘Astro Boy’ utilizes very classical story principles of the hero’s journey that we see in all good storytelling around the world,” Jensen said. “Astro Boy has the moral underpinning and strong emotional resonance that a lot of animation today is lacking.”

Saw this pic ealier today and I'm excited as hell and the teaser poster looks amazing too :)

I hope for a complete surprise like i got when i watched The Incredibles also i hope Astroboy has a slightly more adult feel like the latter half of the incredibles.

Wasn't that into Astro-Boy, but that does look pretty cool. I'll definately give it a shot. :)

I would rather a Mega Man CGI movie the futuristic cities and high action of the games could be amazing.

Or a Big guy and Rusty the boy Robot live action film now that really could be amazing i loved that cartoon.

I don't think it will work. The Astro-Boy relaunch not long ago failed pretty miserably. It was a big US/Japanese co-production as well.

If the Metropolis movie could work, I don't see any reason why this can't. That anime attempt at it failed pretty miserably because they expected people who have no nostalgia for the material to suddenly get into watching revamped material. This movie can work. It has CGI, which is a big appeal to modern audiences, and it has the power of recognition without expecting too much devotion on the viewer's part. The rest is up to the production crew.

I think one of the reason the new cartoon failed (other then network and time slot) was that it was anime and it bleeds together with everyother cartoon on nowadays. Everything is anime or has the look of and looks the same.

This movie, though based on anime, is different enough and so is the cgi look of the film.

I love how Adult Swim is airing old Astro-boy, god damn that is a good show.

Metropolis was a 2-D anime movie with CG FX. Plus it was mainly produced for the Japanese market.

Loved AstroBoy as a kid. So my inner child is looking forward to this.

if the movie be well-received, they really could do a Megaman X movie.
that'd be great.

Hey guys... I got a chance to ask the directors of the AstroBoy CGI movie a few questions... I'm wondering what to ask?

I thought I'd come and check and see if any of you guys are fans and have anything that should be asked... I'm not a huge AstroBoy fan but I know there are a lot out there so I thought I'd check with SHH first!

My questions on the project:

1. When do you expect the movie to be released in theatres?

2. How long will is the movie expected to be?

3. Who will play Astroboy?

4. How do you feel this project will succeed where the new animated series failed not long ago?

I don't know...I WOULD OF prefered this as a live action film, but keep the Astro Boy look with the big head and eyes.

The relaunch was a huge success in Japan. Too bad the English dub blew chunks.
