Australian Company increases polygon count in games by 100,000 times

I saw that on GAF. Apparently a lot of people think it's a hoax or some kind of ploy to get the Australian governed to fund them or something. I don't really have an opinion on it, but I'll get excited when I see it running in real time on a mid-range PC or console. Also, even if they are a technology company, they should really hire some artists if they really want to "wow" people with this.

I got the impression from the narrator that Nvidia and ATI are deliberately trying to withhold the technology for the sake of selling progressive hardware.

It really would not surprise me to find out if that were true about nVidia and ATI but it also wouldn't surprise me to find out this was either a hoax or done in an impractical way.

Voxel technology does seem to be the way forward in the future when developers learn how to utilise and grasp it. John Carmack has said that in a few years it could become a common method for game creation. Seeing some realtime samples on Youtube has me excited as it shows how even one small group working on their own voxel engine has managed to make a pretty cool demo.
