Sci-Fi Avatar: Fire and Ash

In the sense that it picks up immediately after the second movie and watching them both back-to-back provides a more complete experience, absolutely.
It makes so much sense that The Way of Water and Fire and Ash were originally Avatar 2 before being split up.

Big Jim doesn't miss. I'd highly recommend seeing this in Dolby 3D -- it is a wild experience.

With that said, I get some of the complaints. There is a lot of rehashing similar plot beats from TWOW, and I found the ending unsatisfying in a "That's it?" kind of way. But no one is making films like this on this scale. These films are full meals. Every time I found myself a little bored or thinking "I've seen this before", the next scene would have some cool-ass **** I've never seen before.

If I was Cameron, I'd forget about Avatar 5. Do one more -- Avatar 4 -- with a time jump, go all out with some really shocking twists, and bring it back to Earth somehow in the next one.

That's how I feel too. The final battle was a mash-up of the final battles from the first two movies but with cool bonus content like the tulkun tribe, the fire clan and Toruk joining the fight.

I think 4 and 5 will be much like 2 and 3 in that they'll both feel like two parts of the same story. I feel like Earth is probably the most logical choice for the story to visit but that might be a little too much for just one movie.

I've Avatar-pilled myself to the point that now I even enjoy the Leona Lewis power ballad from the first film (that I just rewatched)

I enjoyed it overall but was still surprised at how much felt like a rehash of the second movie (which I liked a lot more).

I just finished it. It was certainly long....didn't love it, didn't hate it. I basically left with me with the same impression from the first two though I think I prefer 3 over 2.

The fire trib unfortunately felt like one-note villains who were wasted and I was disappointed in the backstory.

But if this is the last one, it was a good way to end it.

Isn't 4 already happening? 🤔

If the other movies are anything to go by, they'll be back in 4. The only villain I'd say was truly wasted in these sequels was Edie Falco's general. She was just there to be a generic human villain who was nowhere near as threatening or memorable as Quaritch in the first one and then she died unceremoniously.

I definitely think we will see them again but the whole "my family burned and Eywa didn't save them so I left, embraced the fire and now I kill and pillage from other tribes" could've been done so much better. At least have them be an ancient tribe that follows the path of a fire god who are more heat resistant or something that makes them stand out from the other two tribes

Also agree with the Edie Falco of everything. She tells everyone to abandon ship and goes with the very cliche "captain goes down with the ship" all after all these characters betray her command. Quaritch is let out of confinement and goes into battle. Marine biologist guy betrays her and lets Sully out lol. Everyone falls into their age old generic roles.
