The fire/ash Na'vi will certainly be interesting after this movie focused on water. And yes bad Na'vi against good/sympathetic humans will be a nice change of pace.

Both could make an interesting change, visually and tonally.

And there's also Neytiri's whole story-arc of being resentful towards the humans (understandably so) and Spider to a slightly lesser extent. There's some interesting directions Cameron could go with that.

Domestic box office update. $6.8m Thursday, 4th highest 3rd Thursday ever behind The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, Incredibles 2 and Jurassic World. Still nicely above Maverick and Avatar 1’s comparable day.

Haha yep.

I just mean like in this film being about water, you can still have jungles right next to the water and seeing the previously introduced six-legged land creatures in a couple of shots. Just a minute or 2 even in a 3 hour film would be enough to remind me of the wonder of the wider universe here. And extend that to the new location still briefly reminding us of the greatness of jungles, cloud rocks, oceans etc while introducing the new visuals.

New types of Na’vi will be great to have throughout the rest of the series going forward.

Here's my wild idea: they can make a Na'vi/Human hybrid that's primarily Na'vi. Whose to say they can't make one the other way, an avatar that's mostly human? And where's Jake's human body? Jake having to project himself back into his human body is a fun idea and I like the idea of Zoe Saldana actually getting to be on camera eventually in these.

But they did establish that the transfer doesn't kill the body AND they have stasis tanks for Grace's avatar AND they have some form of cryosleep for space travel. There could be a consciousnessless Jake in a tube somewhere.

Though if Jake's body was being preserved that might be something they would've already established.

Very interesting. This thing can keep making megabucks while getting cheaper to make - doing all 5 films seems like a no-brainer.

When did they establish that the transfer doesn't kill the body? Neytiri takes off Jake's mask at the end of the first movie during the transfer so there's no way his human body would have survived that. Either way, they didn't save Jake's body. It was buried according to one of the canon tie-in comics.

Good point, I forgot about the mask. That definitely killed his human body.

I realize now, I had this same thought like a month ago, rewatched the first movie, saw the mask thing, and went "never mind." I then promptly forgot all about that. Yay, getting old!

Prediction time!

So, in both movies the clans have a spirit tree in a holy site that has a super strong magnetic field. The trees are surrounded by massive rock rings and floating mountains in both movies. And we already know that 3 will introduce the Ash Clan, and they'll surely have a holy site as well, which means...

FLOATING VOLCANOS!!!

If I remember correctly, Polyphemus is a gas giant like Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus, so that means it basically doesn't have a surface to explore.
