avatar problems

I've been trying to upload a GIF for my avatar, I tried both uploading from my computer and from a website, but I still can't get the animation to work, it only shows a still image. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, any solutions?

I've been having the same problem.Can't believe this hasn't been addressed by anyone before.

The GIF file size might be too large.

Right. That happens mostly if the file size is too large. The 75 x 75 avatar can have 46KB, the 50x50 can have 20KB, 100x100 can be 80kb large, according to the FAQ.
