I just got home a little bit ago, and we got a phone call. My youth leader and his daughter were on their way home from a gathering. When they arrived home, they saw their house was on fire! Thankfully, none of the family was home at the time...his wife and other two daughters were still at the gathering. I feel horrible for them. I mean you leave and when you come back, everything's burning.

Not a good way to start the week :csad:

Damn that sucks :down

Sorry to hear about that, JJ.

That's too bad! Hope it's not as bad as it initially seems.

Well at least no one burned alive.

Hopefully it won't be. We don't have details yet. I'm hoping for the best. I've known them my whole life and I feel so sorry for them.

Yeah, imagine having to tie your shoes on fire.

Sorry to hear about it, man, but at least they're all ok, as has been said.

Keep us updated when you find things out.

That's horrible, glad everyone is okay.

God worked with U2, sweet. :dew:

What matters is that no one was hurt, hopefully the damages on their home aren't too bad :(

That sucks. :csad: But at least no one was hurt. :yay: :up:. I hope and pray they get back on their feet in no time.

UPDATE:
We got another phone call. It appears that the house DID NOT burn to the ground, thankfully. The living room, kitchen and parts of the girls' rooms were the least damaged. The husband and wife's room was the worst. So it looks like they'll be able to salvage some things. However, their pet dog did die :( The girls are taking that hard. And there is plenty of smoke and water damage. Right now its just a waiting until they can go through everything to see whats left.

Thanks for you support.

That's too bad about the dog, that'll be hard for the girl's. How old are the girls, hope they're not too young. But at least the house wasn't fully gutted to the ground. Any news if they will still be able to live in the house after some work is done on it?

That is awful news and I'm really bummed to hear about the dog. It sounds like they have a good support of friends and such.

The girls are quite young. The youngest one is maybe 5 or 6. The middle one is 10 or 11 and the oldest is around 14.

I doubt they will be able to live in it still. There's lots of smoke damage. A friend of mine who was up to the house says the windows were pitch black and that one of the walls is gone. It does sound like they were able to get some clothing out. They were distribuiting it amongst some friends and family who live closer. They're about 20 minutes away from us. The real trouble will be getting the smoke smell out of the clothes. That will be the main deciding factor on whether or not they can keep them.

Did they find out how it started? I mean, was it an accident or what?

They're not sure yet. They're still investigating.

Isn't this good news. Did you want your youth leader to be in the house or something.

Of course I didn't want him in the house!...We are very thankful that neither he nor his family were in the house...but that doesn't change the fact that they lost their home.
