Which is exactly the point: These are not responsible fathers, role models or people. They are completely inappropriate and we all know it but we can still laugh at them. I think the media and everyone who blows their top off of people who are intentionally bad aren't seeing why we laugh at them.

Dennis Miller stopped being fun when he became too self aware of his intellect. Then instead of jokes, he just rambles jargon.
 
Yeah, I seriously doubt he could go toe-to-toe with Jon Stewart.

Though Stewart is just plain cut throat when debating his enemies.

The Tonight Show was and always (and still is) associated with Johnny Carson, then the same with Jay Leno.

And the Late Show will always be associated with Conan O'Brien, and now Jimmy Fallon, who has moved on to the Tonight Show.


The show will become his in time. Just depends on what he does to make it his.

The difference is there's more history to the Tonight Show even before Carson. I get it that Carson was and still is highly associated with it but that's kinda the problem, subsequent Tonight Show hosts have had to live in that shadow. It doesn't make a lot of sense to continue the Late Show name because it's always been Letterman's baby, it doesn't have a history of being in any other persons hands other than Dave's. The easiest solution is just to retire Late Show and start fresh, it clears the air that this is not Colbert taking over from Letterman, it's Colbert's new show, it also avoids the issue like with the Tonight Show in terms of how much people still prefer Carson over the last few hosts.
 
I'm actually curious to see Colbert out of character. I've seen brief interviews of him out of character, but never like this.

Maybe Stewart wanted to fame and fortune while making people laugh.

Not everyone aspires to being a business CEO.

When it comes to funny political commentary and satire Stewart is very good at what he does and few comedians can match him.

I don't understand why Colbert would get the job in the first place if he's supposed to be OOC. Does anyone know if he's even funny when he's just being himself?
 
I think it implies that a man that can create an entire concept like he did must be a comedic genius.

And you are....? If getting paid millions to make jokes and whine is so easy according to you, then please get me a job doing it. Yeah, what a loser... he's only hosted the Academy Awards twice, but he'll never be CEO of some company. :o I'm sure that's his real dream!

I've seen him in interviews out of character, he's very sharp, and pretty funny.

Not that I find Letterman funny. Or particularly sharp (though he's certainly not a dummy). And to be fair, he's hardly in his prime now.
 
Yeah, even if his out-of-character personality isn't as hilarious as Colbert Report-Colbert, he's still going to be a huge step up from current Letterman in the humor department. That guy stopped putting effort in quite awhile back.

It's so weird. I just read one interview with her DURING the campaign, and then she fell into obscurity. As far as I've seen, sure there has been some interesting discussions about race in general due to this campaign, but overall it was deemed a failure to my eyes. There's no payoff.

I just think whatever support she had died quickly because Colbert has such a large and loyal support. I really, really think she underestimated Colbert. And almost all of the Asian-American people on Twitter (that I've seen) were totally against Park (not against her overall ideas -which has weight - but on this particular agenda).

Again, I don't know her history with The Colbert Report. She's never mentioned anything about seeing the show or her familiarity to the satirical nature of Colbert's on-air character. Nada.
