Here's the info from MSN's preview of G.I. Joe:

‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’: Aug. 7
Channing Tatum stars as part of an elite force of special operatives known as G.I. Joe who take on an evil arms dealer.

Starring: Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans, Dennis Quaid, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Christopher Eccleston, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sienna Miller
Director: Stephen Sommers

Story: G.I. Joe is not a man; instead it is an elite unit of soldiers, which includes Duke (Tatum), Hawk (Quaid), Ripcord (Wayans) and Snake Eyes (Ray Park). They take on villains including the Baroness (Miller) and the evil Cobra Commander (Gordon-Levitt).

Worth seeing? Maybe, but there is some bad buzz. According to a nasty rumor written by an anonymous poster on Producer Don Murphy’s Web site, director Sommers was fired after a really bad test screening of the film. Movieline debunked the firing rumor, but they added, “Test screenings on ‘G.I. Joe’ happened months ago and though the studio was dissatisfied, one source doubts that the film could have reached the NRG depths of past Paramount product like ‘Marci X’ and ‘Timeline.’” What a ringing endorsement.

They must have totally screwed up the tone and atmosphere of the film
Made it jokey and all that crap...

Yet they ACTUALLY got the back stories right for once... lol!

That was debunked some time ago.

Yeah. But MSN are seldom ill-informed. :(

The same MSN that is owned by the company that made Windows Vista, and jointly owns MSNBC, making a mistake? Is that possible? :wow:

Anyway, I wouldn't put much stock in the rumors about the test sceenings. I will wait until actual reviews come out, instead of banking my opinions on statements like "an anonymous source is claiming that the studio was unhappy with the screenings." Chances are it was Don Murphy who started the rumor because he wanted to get even with Lorenzo Bonaventura for whatever high-school shenanigans he was pissed about.

On a scale is it bad as Speed Racer, Matrix Revolutions, or a big turkey like Howard The Duck and Supergirl?

..says the guy with Bay in his avvy

Howard the Duck  why does it seem Im the only one who finds that movie amusing and fairly decent. But agreed Matrix Rev was horrible cant comment on SR though as Ive not seen it yet.
