This news hit today from out of nowhere. Apparently Bag of Bones start shooting on July 6th. Here is what Dread Central had to report:

According to Sea and Be Scene, a mini-series based on Stephen King’s award-winning novel Bag of Bones will begin shooting in Nova Scotia July 6th, 2011, continuing through to August 31st, 2011.

The 'haunted vacation house' novel will be directed by Mick Garris, the writer/director on three previous Stephen King TV films including The Shining, The Stand and Desperation. Pre-poduction started today in the province.

SO is this a TV movie?

Ugh. Mick Garris... looks like we're all in for a one-way trip to mediocreville.

Pierce Brosnan as Mike Noonan?

Bloody Disgusting had this update on Bag of Bones today. Nothing has been confirmed yet though...

Starting pre-production almost a month ago, the Bag Of Bones mini-series finally has a name attached to it besides for director Mick Garris. Although final negotiations are still underway, it looks like Pierce Brosnan is all but set to star as Mike Noonan in the Stephen King adaptation.

Principal photography was supposed to start on July 6 in Nova Scotia, but since no one else has signed on yet (that we know of), don't be surprised if the date is pushed back a few days unless they really ramp things up.

Melissa George - who is no stranger to the genre - is set to co-star in the television adaptation of Stephen King's "Bag of Bones."

Mick Garris is directing the mini-series for A&E. Pierce Brosnan and Annabeth Gish also star.

Production begins next month.

George has also starred in 30 Days of Night, Triangle and the upcoming A Lonely Place to Die.

"Bag of Bones" is the story of grief and lost love's enduring bonds, an innocent child caught in a terrible crossfire and a new love haunted by past secrets. Bestselling novelist Mike Noonan, played by Pierce Brosnan, is unable to stop grieving after the sudden death of his wife Jo. A dream inspires him to return to the couple's lakeside retreat in western Maine where he becomes involved in a custody battle between the daughter of an attractive young widow and the child's enormously wealthy grandfather, the mysterious ghostly visitations, the ever-escalating nightmares and the realization that his late wife still has something to tell him.

That little sneak preview definitely has me eager.

I was wondering, when this one was going to be adapted.

That's awesome. I read Bag of Bones a year and a half ago and really enjoyed it. It seemed like one of those King books that I would give up on halfway through but I zoomed through it. Can't wait to see how it turns out on TV.

Thanks for the answer!

I still have this on my DVR.

Haven't seen it yet.

Hopefully it's worth my while?
