then I'm not so smart I guess. Because I fail to see how slowing down, shutting off lights, and lowering engine noise allows one to slip out of view of a spot-light fixed dead on your tank.

Becuase he slowed down so quickly, and the helicopter was going the same fast speed.

He just dropped out of sight.

Maybe if he turned a corner in the city, I'd buy it, but it was on the highway. A heli will keep you in sight in such a wide open area with traffic flowing in one direction no matter how quiet your engine is or low your beams are. I've played hours of gta so I know these things.

The death of credibility is a sad thing.

it's suspended belief...

in reality, unless you go into a densely populated woodland area with vertical cover, a helicopter would never lose you in any situation...

but meh, i can believe for a day..

I can answer that. If you slow down REALLY quick, almost to a stop, the helicopter keeps moving on and loses track of you. You don't even need to be driving a thumbatmaline to do that, you can evade chopper searchlights even with an orange car like General Lee. Of course, IT'S NOT EASY. You need some wicked driving skills.

perhaps... I don't think it was necessary to go into street fighter the movie stealth mode in that scene anyway, but I guess batman was testing the thing out

Although I agree with you (it makes very little realistic sense), but I think it's in the "realm" of possibility, and the idea is such a sick concept and so definitely Batman (to vanish right under their noses) is so true to the comics and so well pulled off that I can't help but love it.

I'm saying you can't slow down and escape a spotlight. Just can't work that way. If anything, the copter would back track and find you. why is this so hard to believe?

Most helicopter searchlights don't track objects manually, a computer system locks onto the object and keeps it fixed. So when the Tumbler goes into stealth mode it's radar invisible and the tracking is lost. Other than that, just accept it the same way you accept a man gliding on memory cloth.

Or the microwave gadget, or the incredibly conveinent superhero gadgets all ready for the one billionare who desires to be a superhero, batman's girlfriend can meet the one kid batman met out on some random window, or how one man can meet so many people who love to talk about fear. So yeah, I can accept a lot of seemingly unbelievable things.

I don't think I'll ask why bats doesn't keep the radar blocking on. I'm fine with it as long as it's blanketed under the "inexperienced batman" explanation. Everyone makes mistakes.

Well on a different note, the batpod is certainly a chick magnet isn't it.

I found this mildly amusing

8/10 on the bike. Love the ingenuity but damn I was really hoping for something with more armour and without the FRIGGIN CAPE dragging in the wind :o

I'd hit it. :o

Batman zipping by on the bike with the cape trailing behind him makes for a striking, not to mention iconic, visual. Can't wait to see it personally.

On stealthy approaches, he's gonna slip in, hide in the shadows etc, however when he just goes for it with speed and power etc, it's gonna be the tumbler, really the batcycle is unneccessary and ugly.

People a few months ago were saying how the batcyle was a horrible idea etc, but oh look, Nolan's done it, so now it's good?

I'm not impressed. The design is all about the look and little else. And the aim witht he look is to appeal to a certain type, is all.

Ho hum.

It still looks like the LightCycle from TRON. They should've saved the design for the never-to-be-made AKIRA live action movie.

I think i like the Bike, the name... not so much. Like the look and it must be fairly quick. Might hold my final judgement until I see it in full flight!

Unless you've read the script you don't really know that.

Going from what the designer said and the way the Tumbler was portrayed in BB it's not much to expect that the bike will be suited to a specific purpose/function.

Actually, seeing a clear pic of someone on the bike makes me realize that his cape would be more than fine because there is no way it would be anywhere near that back tire, it's not that long.

^ It can still catch on other objects and I disagree on the length, looking at the photo it seems the cape could still get snagged on the axel.

Idea: Hemming says the cape 'does something'. Maybe the memory cloth closes around him and liquid armour protects him from bullets.

I was actually one of the people that thought a cycle wouldn't work, I wanted a boat with all the water and channels running within and around the city.

I also wanted a different cycle IF Nolan was going that route. Well, guess what? It's WAY different, just like the Tumbler, and that's why I love this thing. From a technology standpoint, it should be ridiculous with what it's going to be able to do on film - it's going to be a sight to see, especially in IMAX.

god, some of you lot are some really sad whiny losers

crying over the look of the batcycle and whining like little girls

grow some balls you sad lot

just be grateful that Batman has got the best cast, best director and best production possible.

The fact is, the movie will be incredible,

stop whining and get over it

there are worse things that could happen, such as having a movie end up like Superman Returns or Blade Trinity.

Nolan is the master, and will deliver
