Well if that's all he meant by people bashing Begins, then sure, that coud happen. But i highly doubt TDK will make us turn on Batman Begins the way Begins made us turn on Burton's films.

It's the "shinier thing" syndrome. Show people something shiny, they go nuts. Show them something shinier, and they start disliking the previous thing. It's a principle that has sustained every industry on this planet, be it film, electronics, automobiles etc. since, like, forever. :woot:

Yeah... it isn't that big. Just look at some pictures with people standing near it. It just appears bigger in the film.

I said wide monstrosity because it's wide. There are different versions of big and in this case I meant wide. I know it's not long or high but it is wide enough to fit two people and have a place to slide down in the middle. I said tank-ish because it sure isn't car-ish or bat-ish. Those are just my opinions on why I don't like it. If this were in the future for DKR I would find it more appropriate but still not bat-like.

Showing a picture of a tank actually just makes me dislike the tumbler more as a Batman car. I like the vehicle but not as a Batmobile. I won't discuss the Forver or the 4th movie batmobiles because I don't believe they are effective at all, they are all for show. However, the 89 batmobile is bullet proof but I would imagine so is the tumbler. The only reason the 89 car isn't as fast is because it was made 18 years ago. Now, realizing that it is a movie only it doesn't have to be fast, that's the beauty of it. You can say anything you want on screen and it becomes automatically believable as long as the writers come up with an explanation. It's not about realism, if it were the tumbler wouldn't be able to race across rooftops, it's about look and creation. The tumbler could have been created differently, and/or modified, to be more sleek and less tank-ish.
I couldn't agree with you more.

Are you serious? When does that ever happen? When does a sequel cause the fans to actually dislike the first one, because they like the sequel more? I'm sorry, I just cant imagine that happenening. "Man! TDK was so awesome! Bale was great in it, unlike BB where his performance sucked!!! Nolan is a much better director now!!!" Sorry, I dont see it happening.

It will. people are blinding themselves to the lost potential begins has but when tdk comes along and hopefully completely out-shines it. well, they'll see what could have been and probably never want to see begins ever again.

It of course is the case with spider-man. Though now people are finally realizing that series as a whole has a bunch of wasted potential.

Though superior sequels are rare, begins is not a movie, unlike many want to believe, that is impossible to top. It will be topped. It will be viewed as inferior to the dark knight, I'm betting.

He meant Godfather Part II and Aliens!

*Leaps out a window.*

Why don't you all just admit that whatever Nolan does you'll follow it no matter how much it may stink. Nolan fans will support anything he does and say it's a good Batman movie even if it's not. The praise I've read for Begins always reminded me more of a cult following than a bunch of movie fans. The Dark Knight will be the same way.

^Yes, TDK will be another quality film, that's why it will be praised.

Batman Begins was not only a good Batman origin film, but a good film in general and definitely one of the best comic book adaptations ever, especially with the crap Marvel is spewing out lately.

TDK will be another "step-up" within the genre in terms of action, seriousness, and complexity.

I'm assuming you meant that BB stunk then? In comparison to other comic films and specifically the previous Batman films you thought it stunk? Otherwise I'm not sure what film you're referring to when you say Nolan has been involved with a movie that stinks. I don't think anyone has ever said Begins was on par with Gone with the Wind or Raging Bull. Its a worthwhile film in general, near the top among comic to film adaptations, and consistently considered in discussions of the best batman movie to date.

The board doesn't exist because of Nolan's following it exists because of Batman's following. When majority opinion disagrees with you it is much easier to label them as blind than to consider the possibility that your own opinions may be unreasonable.

You seem to think that you have a good grasp of what other people think. You don't. Don't be so pretentious........

I personally loved Begins because Nolan was able to show the dramatic aspect of the character better than any other director had...plus it showed Bruce's dedication better than any other Batman movie did...as well as showing his methods.

And I have faith the Dark Knight will be better...sequels to comic book movies as of late have been better (Spider-man 2, X-men 2, Fantastic Four: ROTSS...even though it's not too hard to be better than the original crap fest)

Real Talk.

TDK may re-invent things the way B89 did. Everything is leading towards being even better than what they did in BEGINS. Which says a whole lot.

that's one of the dumbest arguments i've read on these boards, and that's saying something.

a tank is a large, slow, armoured, heavily armed assault vehicle.
the tumbler is small, fast, agile, amroured and lightly armed. it's more of a stealth car than a tank. hell, Burton's batmobile was way more resiliant than the tumbler, and nowhere near as fast.

but maybe this will make it easier for you.

hahaha I was a tanker in the Army for 4 years and I would have given anything for it to look like the tumbler, alas no, but uh a tank is way better than a glowing ribbed car with a six foot batwing sticking out the top.... have always loved the tumbler and I love the bat-pod/cycle too....

Who's being pretentious, I'm simply stating my opinion based on what I've seen in these rooms. Everytime someone states something they dislike seventeen people jump on that person stating that Nolan is god. I liked Begins as a movie, I just don't love it like others do. I wish there were different things in it that would suit my tastes but that's just me. When, in the past, I've explained my opinions, which I'm allowed to have, more than one person tries to battle that with their own opinions. Ironically, they believe their opinions are fact which is funny. Nolan re-created the Batman franchise and because of this people tend to think he can do no wrong. I on the other hand am glad there are Batman movies again but I do not like everything Nolan has done. I'm allowed to be a huge Batman fan and feel that way.

I love people that try and take things literally. It's for reasons like this I used the term tank-ish to not imply that it is exactly a tank. I never said that I liked the Forever or crap version of the Batmobile, actually I said this a few posts back, but I do prefer some of the designs in the comics, cartoons, and the 89 version. All I'm saying is it looks more militaristic than it does a Batman vehicle. A better hybrid could have been invented or modified to make this new war on crime vehicle be militaristic and Batman stylish.

I'm not attacking you for having an opinion. You are entitled to that. I accused you of being pretentious for your words that I quoted in bold text above.

So because I praise Begins as a film that IMO is superior to all others that have come before, you assume that it must be attributed some cult-like mentality? It's a movie, not a religious experience.

My point is to each their own. Some will find BB superior just as you may find 89 superior, yet I don't attribute your feeling that way to anything other than personal preference.

thats not true.
so we are obsessed and the hulk fans are just haters right?

what if.....what if peopel are just honest? what if batman begins was a good movie to a lot of batman fans? what if hulk was not a good movie to a lot of hulk fans?

what if....ever thought about this?

and if you would read posts you would see a that even the oens who look like htey are extreme nolan fans that even tehy....have some problems with the suit or maybe the new joker.

First off, The Hulk stunk. Second of all, I like Begins but when anyone points out problems that are their opinions and valid sometimes Nolan fans jump on them and tell them that they are flat out wrong. That's not being a fan that's being stubborn. With that said, here's my opinion on what we know, I don't like the new suit and I hate the picture I've seen of the Joker. Will it be a good movie, maybe, will I like the way people look in it, probably not.
