Hi i couldn't see a thread about this story arc and decided to create one for talking about the latest batman story arc.

I really enjoyedthe first 2 parts. However, because i am new to batman comics i am not familiar with batman's son's mother i have heard of the name before but could someone fill me in on the background, please.

Seriously, if you have any questions, just type a name or two in there, and you should find it easily enough.

The general idea, is that Batman loves Talia, who is the daughter of perhaps Batman's greatest foe (debatle of course) Ra's Al Ghul. In an incredibly old story arc called Son of the Demon, Bruce gets Talia pregnant. During her pregnancy, Batman starts to go soft, as he fears dying and leaving Talia and the baby alone. However, he still continued to engage in active duty. Fearing that he would get himself killed in this state, Talia opts to tell him that she miscarried. When Batman is told the news, he returns to his dark and brooding behavior, and goes on his marry way. The truth is however, that Talia did not have a miscarriage. That brings us to now...

...1987 is incredibly old?

In a few months, 1987 will have been two decades ago. Considering that Batman is only a 60 year old character 20 years is a huge chunk of time. Yeah...a story from 1987 is incredibly old.

What would you call Batman story from 1940? :o

A time capsule??

In all seriousness, I would probably call the old Bob Kane stories classic. Back when Batman used guns and killed folks that pissed him off. I'm sure everybody read that wonderful article in Wizard. Funny stuff. It is nice to see that the character went from dark, to more light hearted, with the introduction of Robin, to silly, and back to dark again. So I think there is a lot of history to be repected, with the 1940's Batman. Purely classic...

What did we think of the "Ninja" Man-bat's folks?

Yeah. Like 3 weeks ago.

What wizard article featured Batman going from dark to light to dark again?

We were disappointed in Grant Morrison. We thought he could have done a lot better--HAS done a lot better--with Batman. We wish he would get over his obsession with the "hairy chested love god" Batman. We do not care for "Batman and Son," on the whole, and are greatly looking forward to Morrison's next arc, because if there's one thing we have decided about this whole deal, it's that Morrison has done so much great work that he deserves a mulligan every once in awhile. We are hoping that the future of his Batman work will improve.

I thought the Ninja Man-Bats were awesome.

I thought batmans thought process with the whole thing was brilliant.

"It's not langstrom. Not Man-bat. Man-bats. Ninja Man-Bats. Alarming Twist."

Hillarious.

I don't like he's bringing in the camp version of Batman as backstory :o

I'm interested to see where this story arc goes.. It could rock, it could suck.

I thought the Man Bats were very lame and I don't like him bringing in the campy batman history.

My big question at this point is what is going to be part 4? I am looking at DC and it say Batman 657 is part 3 of Batman and son but when you click on 658 it makes no mention of Batman and son and seems to go in a completely differant story involving "The night of the Penguin" so where is part 4?

What's this reference campy history everyone's talking about?

That's an error. The Night of the Penguin is the solicit to that month's Detective issue, not Batman.
