Batman: Arkham City

I've just made a thread for this and didn't see this general Arkham City thread :S

But this is the official Robin in color and with a hood!

Do I need to delete the other thread? Can I?

That does look good. I'm not too fond of the shaven head look though.

No worries, I merged your thread with this one.

Final Word on Robin: From Kan Mutfic, Senior Concept Artist

"We wanted to create a Robin that players would identify as a contemporary character and move away from the traditional “Boy Wonder” image that most people know. Our vision of Robin is the one of a troubled young individual that is calm and introverted at times but very dangerous and aggressive if provoked. The shaved head is inspired by cage fighters, because we thought that Robin might be doing that in his spare time to keep him on his toes. Still, we kept all the classic trademarks of Robin’s appearance, such as the red and yellow colors of his outfit, the cape and the mask.
We really hope that people will discover our Robin as one of their new favorite characters in the Batman universe. He is back and he means business." KAN MUTFIC, JULY 2011

I guess I'm really the only one who thinks his cape is too small.

It is too small. Not to mention the character description sounds much more Jason Todd than Tim Drake.

Was I the only one who thought that the ending of Arkham Asylum with the boss fight with Titan Joker was a bit underwhelming?

Underwhelming? What did you expect?

I was thinking it would have a great ending if Batman simply took the Joker to the ground, and then you punch him in the face repeatedly in a Quick-Time Event. This QTE continues for however long you like, however, after a certain point, it results in the Joker's death, resulting in a game over. A bit like the God of War III ending, but with a Batman twist. Thoughts?

Yes, it was. The boss fights in general were really poor in AA. It's the only real flaw the game has. They all had the same strategy. Ivy was the only one who couldn't be defeated like the Titan bosses.

Joker was even simpler. All you had to do was fight three waves of henchmen and then run around the arena briefly to dodge his slow attacks when you pulled him off the ledge.

Absurdly easy.

Agreed, though I was also talking about from a story perspective as well.

I see a major flaw in it: Batman killing Joker. That is a terrible idea

I had no problem with the story. Just the execution of the actual boss fight itself. They were never going to kill the Joker. He's too popular. Batman killing him would go against Batman's no kill rule.

The idea is that you get a Game Over and fail if you continue until you kill the Joker. You have not only missed the point, you have gotten it completely backwards.

I know. That was the point, if you kill the Joker, you fail and have to start over.

....no that just sounds completely useless. And as if Batman was actually going to be able to get that Joker on the ground to punch his face in

Also, in my ending, there would be no Titan ********. Just regular Joker. You could stop the Quick-Time Event at any point after he's knocked out, but if you keep going, then eventually he will die, and you fail. It would be sort of like an interactive version the Batman and Joker confrontation from Hush.

The problem with most of Batman's villains is that they are not a physical match for him. It's hard to make tough boss fights out of them.

It's why Bane's boss fight worked. And then they gave it to the Titan thugs. All of them. And Joker. >_>

Bane's boss fight is such a ***** on hard mode. I really want the achievement points but I can't do it =/

Maybe not traditional boss fights, but they definitely could make good boss fights. Just base their tactics off the comics and such. Scarecrow could use fear gas-induced hallucinations for a battle similar to Psycho Mantis in Metal Gear Solid, for example. Not every boss has to be a physical challenge to the hero and follow that formula.

Scarecrow's sections I supposed could kind of be classed as a boss fight, although you didn't technically fight him. But they required a very unique strategy and were awesome.

Bane was disappointing

"OMG IT'S BANE HERE HE COMES AND...hes just like the Titan henchmen"

To me, it got repetitive at around the third time of doing the same thing to defeat Scarecrow. I would have preferred a little variety there.

It is, in retrospect. Where's his tactical skills?

Therein lay the problem with the AA boss fights: repetitiveness. Ivy was the only one who was really unique.
