Yea, but the whole "Those are my balloons...HE STOLE MY BALLOONS! Why didn't someone tell me he had one of those...one of those...things. Bob...gun" thing was just amazing.

Then if you analyze this scene, you come to really appreciate just how aweseome the movie is and was loyal to the comics since after Miller's DKR, it became much more grittier and dark. Joker wanting to kill all of his victims so they die with a smile is just great.

That, and when he whips out the ridiculously long gun was just pure awesomeness.

No, it's not a shame. I just like that first scene even more. :heart:

It was iconic (Batman descending with his opened cape) then was a huge shock (he got shot and fell) then became iconic again (Batman, almost like a supernatural creature, stand up again, flapped his cape, the crescendo on Elfman's music...) and even more iconic with what he does to those guys, establishing even more his supernatural aura and urban legend status.

It was a brilliant way to introduce the character to the viewer, briefly but entirely effective.
