didn't Mark Hamill come out and say afterwards that he was misinterpreted about retiring from voicing Joker?

either way, glad he's sticking around. both Conroy & Hamill are the definitive voices for those characters. whenever i'm reading a Batman comic i always hear their voices in my head as i'm reading along

I'm more surprised they never did this sooner, should be epic and hopefully Kingdom Come or Red Son follow.

In 2009 I started working on an animated adaptation of The Killing Joke under the supervision of legendary Animation artist Bruce Timm. Two weeks into the project we were told to stop development because The Watchmen had underperformed at the box office and WB had lost faith in R rated superhero movies. Happy to say that you guys are gonna finally get your animated Killing Joke adaptation in 2016. Apparently enough money has been made from superhero movies and adaptations of comics of every stripe that it now transcends the previously assumed limitations of the genre. It's a good time to be a comic geek!

Really curious to see the animation style for this.

After Bad Blood and Batman vs Robin, my expectations are not high for this.

1. This isn't even in the same universe.
2. This isn't even done by the same people (Timm, Conroy, Hamill are back)

There's no confirmation that Conroy or Hamill are involved.

Yeah Timm is definitely on board, but no voice cast have been announced yet. Conroy and Hamill are just the fan favorites to do it.

Come on...

The killing Joke should be compared to TDKR 1 and 2 or Underthe Red Hood. It's not an original story but an adaptation and it will kick ass

If the film is even 1/2 as good as the comic story, it will be a must-buy for me.

Phil Bourassa, a conceptual artist that has worked on numerous DC animated projects, shared character designs of The Joker that he created for Bruce Timm's first attempt at an animated adaptation of The Killing Joke. Along with the artwork, Bourassa posted a message which seems to suggest that Batman: The Killing Joke could be rated R.

"Two weeks into the project we were told to stop development because Watchmen had underperformed at the box office and WB had lost faith in R-rated superhero movies," Bourassa wrote. "Happy to say that you guys are gonna finally get your animated Killing Joke adaptation in 2016. I haven't seen Bad Blood yet but I really want DC's animated movies to rebound, they've been in a rut for a couple years now.

It's not confirmed as R, but they apparently received clearance to give it an R.

I doubt they'll go R.

It's too bad the MPAA doesn't have a PG-16. That's the unofficial rating the Netflix Marvel shows operate under. That would work for this type of film.

They can technically even release it unrated like one of the versions of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.

What did Deadpool get for a rating in your country I'm wondering?

In my Canadian province it got an 18A rating which is defacto equivalent to an R except one year older.

:funny:

When I saw you in my notifications, I knew that it would be this type of post. You are quite the sensitive fellow, it seems. Whenever someone says something slightly negative about something you like, you always respond in such a childish manner (like in the Arrow threads recently, with your petulant response to one of Primal Slayers posts, and her post was not even a complaint). You are very easily upset when someone says something that you do not like, but it doesn't stop you from laying into things that you do not like and mocking people who do like them. You are amusing and funny, I will give that, although it is unintentional on your part.

Gods & Monsters was quite the rebound for me. But then again, that was Bruce Timm, not James Tucker.
