Change that to a pair of dolphin waterskis and we might have a deal.

Would you guys who don't like his look or the fact that he isn't smiling rather have this?

I don't see any reason why this Aquaman costume has to remain static throughout all of his film appearances. For all we know, they could go back to a more traditional orange and green dynamic in his solo film.

yeah he could always give up being King of the Sea to pursue a career on Broadway, frex.

Is this better?

Aquaman has looked like that before though in the comics. Was it a deliberate attempt then to pander to all the people who thought Aquaman was corny and lame then? Should he always look like this:

How come Batman, Superman etc can all change over time but Aquaman needs to look how he looks in the superfriends or they are trying too hard to make Aquaman badass?

Would you guys who don't like his look or the fact that he isn't smiling rather have this?

I wonder why people always have to resort to these stupid and completely irrelevant responses?

Is it some sort of innate behavior or what?

It's the cheapest and laziest possible route to try to quell dissent. It happens every time a movie studio farts out something sub-par. Let's not forget the long years in which anyone who wanted a Batsuit that was not at its core a rubber wetsuit was told that they wanted a return to Adam West's "pajamas".

We are simply trying to make you guys happy. We feel so bad to see you guys disappointed.

Those are all unflattering. I think people wanted something along these lines.

Which is a perfectly valid interpretation of the character and is doable in live action.

Oh, yeah. Thank god that's finally over.

We are big guys, we'll survive.

Nothing wrong with people not liking it. It's their opinion and considering the dramatic departure, it's inevitable. To be honest, it's not the look I would have preferred and I'm against a barbarian take on the character.

At the same time, I like it on it's own terms and think they can develop it to have a more traditional, noble feel. Maybe something like:

Seeing the whole costume in full color and Momoa's characterization could feel different from the tease photo. As long as he has the leg fins... :P

I wouldn't insist on anything that "classic", personally. I would be all in favour of a combination of classic and 90's elements. I don't even mind the harpoon-hand...much. I think that pin-pointing the 90's "EXTREME!!!" phase, and stretching that out to accommodate our Polynesian Khal Drogo is a cop-out, however.

It's a shame, because I think that a costume built around an aquatic theme, using golden scale mail, could have been striking and iconic.

Tattooed scales, and little scales engraved on gladiator-amour...eh.

That's from the post-Infinite Crisis reboot, right? Not a bad design, apart from the replacent of the trident with a sword. I wouldn't have minded a costume like that.

Actually, I both wanted and expected a longhaired and bearded 90's-inspired Aquaman and didn't really want full, long-sleeved chain-mail, but would prefer him to wear a bit more than he does or at least have a less primitive and more ornamented and otherwordly design of those armor parts that he does wear - pauldron, manica and bracers.

I had really high hopes for Aquaman's armor, believing that Wilkinson will add bunch of interesting details in texture and ornaments that would depict exotic style of Atlantean culture and I thought it would probably be visually most interesting "costume". Finally, I'm also not fan of those tattoos. Not to this extent. I appreciate the idea of making them reminiscent of chain-mail, it was a clever one, but I don't like the execution. Idea might be good, but result doesn't look that way to me.

I'll say again, it's not terrible or even bad per se, but I find it underwhelming and to have a somewhat "lazy" approach in design.

I sure hope so, you get us all worried.

I'm sure we did. You can all relax now.

Oh, yeah. This looks very nice.

I understand completely as I too would have preferred a costume that didn't entirely get rid of the classic elements. With that said, I still really like the current costume. Maybe in the future they can create something which strikes a balance between the classic and 90's look. I think it's definitely possible across multiple films.

Speaking of cheap and lazy routes to try and keep people quiet... those who like it don't consider it "sub-par" so maybe you ought to rephrase. Disliking it is one thing but pretending it's objectively bad just because it doesn't carry the regwec seal of approval is entirely another.

Do I really need to state that my opinions are my opinions? Isn't the rebuttal "in your opinion!" usually left behind in the school playground?

I don't care what you do. Losing the belligerent attitude wouldn't hurt though. Hate to see a grown man getting angry over his sooper heroez.

I am not in the least bit angry, rest assured of that.

Interesting reading all the responses to AM's costume design.

I think it's very good.

I was thinking about something. Wouldn't it be cool if those tattoos changed colour? Like a camouflage or something.
