In my opinion it's Bond. They challenge him in so many ways and there's so many memorable stars from oddjob and blofeld to rosa klebb and silva.

What do you think? Also, who would you see also has a fantastic rogue's gallery? The only other option I can think of is Disney but since they don't all fight a single entity they don't count

Batman, IMHO. All created from some sort of insanity or trauma or both, just like Batman himself. And such great variety. Bond's are mostly variations of megalomaniac schemes to take over the world or cleanse humanity for a pure race or something.

I agree with childeroland - also, the Bond characters have a greater influence, being in movies for decades, where as Batman is limited to Comics. A lot of the bond villains seem an upgrade on the one before, where as Batman's seem more unique.

It would be interesting to list all the bond villains and then align them with a comparible villain from Gotham.

In theory, you could argue Batman could may well be a villain to Bond.....

Even taking into account only the movies. . . Batman. He has a much higher percentage of hits vs misses. Hell, arguably the only actual failure as a villain is the B&R version of Bane, who is a wordless unimpressive mook; at least the other Schumacher villains are functional within the intended tone of the movies.

Whereas with Bond, for every Blofeld or Trevelyan, there's a Whittaker or Graves. Or two.

Batman by a landslide. Bond has some memorable, but Batman has hundreds in films and in comics.

Yeah it really isn't even close at all I don't think. Batman all the way.

Movie Batman or Batman in general? Because if it's the latter, it's not even a contest.
If it's the former... still no contest. The Jokers (all 3/4 of them), Pfeiffer's Catwoman, the Phantasm, Two-Face, Bane.

Even his less well received and/or more divisive villains (Ra's, Scarecrow, Penguin, Hathaway's Catwoman) are far more memorable than the average Bond enemy. If I hace to be honest, I actually find Bond's rogues gallery to be quite weak, with a few obvious exceptions of course.

Dr. Julies No alone is better than half of batman's villains.

Then we have the likes of Red Grant, Rosa Klebb, Blofeld (FRWL, TB and OHMSS versions), Auric Goldfinger, Scaramanga, Drax, Zorin, Mayday...the majority of Bond's villains have that certain something that Batman's villains just can't compete with. There's a reason why the live action batfilms have largely reused the joker more than anyone else.

Yeah. To me it is Bond, easily. The only thing in Batman's favor is that Bond's villains are usually one-offs aside from Blofeld and Jaws.

But Batman will win because this is a comic book forum.

Nah, Batman will win because the majority of people in the world can list off Batman villains. The majority of the population can only count the number of Bond villains they know on one hand. Batman will always win out of sheer repetition of it's key rogues gallery across media and literary platforms for (I think) longer than Bond has been out, hell there was a point where the world could list more Batman villains they knew than the heroes themselves.

I'd like to see the opinion of someone who is either a casual Batman and Bond fan or not really a fan of both at all. That's the true opinion that matters.

Big fan of both, but no one beats the Joker as a villain or nemesis, so yeah Batman.

Bond has some great villains, but Batman's rogues gallery is second to none in any fiction medium.

If you were to stop a random person in the street, some one really average, impartial and asked them to name the villains of each, they would probably say....

Jaws:
Oddjob
...goldfinger
......erm, Dr Evil (you mean Bloefeld) oh yeah sorry
and Christopher Lee Dracula guy (you mean the man with the golden gun?) i guess so!

If you asked them to name Batman's

Joker
Catwoman... is she bad or his girlfriend? (let's move along please)
Tom Hardy (you mean Bane)
Two faces (you mean two face)
Poison Ivy
Arnold Swarzenegger (you mean Mr Freeze)
Penguin person (it's just penguin)

So i guess to the average person, batman wins too

Bats does have some great villains that aren't even A-listers.

Batman and it isn't even close. Only Spider-Man comes close, imo.

Batman's villians mirror his psyche in interesting ways, they are iconic to every generation, they work across mediums and each one has multiple versions of themselves that explore new territory.

Plus the Joker is easily one of the greatest villians of all time. Bond would be lucky to have one make the top 15.

No way, blofeld, oddjob etc would easily be in a list of top 15 villains.

I've got to say I'm shocked at the results. Maybe it would be different if this poll didn't occur on a comic book forum?

There's nothing surprising at all about the results. Ask the masses and they'll tell you Batman's. Oddjob, Blowfield, Jaws, and Goldfinger are going to be the only four Bond villains the majority of the general population can even maybe name while they can name Batman's. Bond has strong villains, but it's an unfair competition too since they're one offs. In and out. Whereas every Batman villain has been drilled into people's heads in every media form possible since they were kids, they're not one offs they're hundred offs and that's an underestimate.

Or another way to put this, walk into any retail store. Count the number of times you see something of Batman's villains and count the number of times you see anything with Bond's villains as the selling factor outside of the hero.

My sentiments exactly. Batman legitimately has the most interesting villains of all, especially when examining them from a psychological standpoint. His rogues gallery has individuals from all over the spectrum. And to be honest, his villains are more diverse than pretty much any other character ever, be it comic books or otherwise.

Across all mediums, Spider-Man really is the only one that comes remotely close.
