So, which of them do you think has the better rogues gallery, and why? I like Batman's the best overall. Most of his villains have a great psychology to them which contributes to their motivations. Alot of them have very unique relationships with Batman.
I love Spidey's villains, too, but alot of Spidey's villains are merely thugs who acquired powers thru some freak accident, and are not interested in anything more than stealing money. Spidey doesn't have many A-List villains. The Goblins, Doc Ock, and Venom would be the only ones considered by most to be.

Well both have great rouges.Batan without a doubt has DC best rouges gallery and Spidey the best one in Marvel.I give the slight edge to spidey.

I give it to Batman only because of the Joker, the greatest villain of all time. Green Goblin comes close but just isnt up to par with the madness and insanity of the joker.

I prefer Spidey's villans a little more but probably not by much.

Bat. He has Joker, Twoface, Catwoman, The Penguin and all the fan favourites like Scarecrow and Ra's Al Ghul. Spider-man has Green Goblin and Doc Ock. Batman just has coolest ( no pun intended) villains.

I prefer Batman's villains. They're more fun than Spider-Man's, who tend to just be tormented, melodramatic souls or idiotic bank robbers. Batman gets all the cool psychopaths.

While I do enjoy Spider-Man's villains, I've gotta give it up to Batman hands-down. Take away the Joker and it's a little more even, but with him it's no contest.

Personality-wise, I think Batman has a more colorful gallery. But Batman has many psychopaths who like Wayne don't have any superpowers (Joker, Two-Face, Penguin, Catwoman), whereas Spider-man's villains are generally more dangerous (except Vulture and Kraven imo). I do like Spidey's gallery a bit more.

They're basically lackeys in Salvation Run. I'm looking forward to Johns' mini with them. Someone needs to remind everyone else how to write them.

Spiderman has a pretty cool rogues gallery, but Batman beats him hands down. Batman has the coolest villains of all time.

I'm kinda disappointed though so many of Spidey's villains have animal motifs. I mean, its cool with Doc Oc, cause the shtick works. Some of the others though... meh. :o

I rather liked how JMS worked with that in his run.

He talked about totems and the power of symbols and **** when Eziekial was explaining how mutant villains gravitate to the X-Men, while Captain America's villains are all military in origin, and what does Spider-Man fight? Other animals.

Agree with the above post. Spidey's villains are great, but Batman having the Joker alone trumps all his great villains. The Joker is by far the epitome of what a good comic villain should be and hell one may argue, a villain in any media form period should be.

Geez, that's a bit much. I think the Joker is about as picture-perfect a villain as Batman could ask for, but the greatest villain in all forms of media? Wowzers.

The Bat-Fans tend to look at things with blinders on... :oldrazz: :oldrazz: :oldrazz:

:yay:

Did I say he was the best villain any form of media? I just said he was a good example for all media forms to look at when crafting villains for tv/movies/comics, etc.

I don't even think it's possible to pin down the ''greatest" villain in all forms of media. There's far too many great villains in comics/movies/tv shows to call that one.

Also, you know, books and plays. There's a few billion of those out there.

As for the question at hand: Batman. Spider-Man's villains are fine, but they're handled a tad sloppily at times.

Batman, one of the world's greatest heroes, needs a challenge. His Villains deliver, and are more creative. Tho I have to admit Spider-man's villains are a lot smarter, figuring his identity many times and all, and always coming closer to defeating him.

You know, I've always felt that Spider-Man's villains had the potential to be Marvel's equivalent of The Rogues. The problem is that they keep having team-ups like the Sinister Six, and revenge as a motivation has it's limits for characters like The Shocker or The Trapster, who seem a lot more interested in getting from day to day than getting even. I've been thinking for a while that Spidey's less psychopathic villains, like The Vulture and The Shocker, should get together as an Ocean's 11 style gang of thieves, more interested in making a profit than getting revenge (although combining the two would work for them). And maybe have a new Sinister Six formed by Osborn, who by this point is almost solely obsessed with Parker, which is made up of the more crazy, revenge oriented types.
