BvS Batman Vs Superman Poll - Opinions Of 1000 Moviegoers In NYC

Considering Nolan was one of the producers, and thus his name appeared in the credits, I am not sure it is that bad people thinking he was the director. I could not name the director of most films I have seen.

It's because his name was splattered on everything.

Who directed Man of Steel?

Chris Nolan 46% (461 votes) (Majority)

Who knows?
They mght end up thinking he directed The Superman/Batman Film as well.

Screw The Flash (I love him though)! Bring on Wonder Woman! :ww: Feministas UNITE!

Didn't they say we'd get a new Batman? Bale wouldn't make sense. His Bruce is already too old, too broken, and definitely not smart enough to be the kind of Batman that could pose a challenge to Superman.

Well said.

Very interesting poll. I'm surprised at how divided they are when asked if Batman's involvement in the MoS sequel makes them more excited. Almost split down the middle.

Also, GO WONDER WOMAN. :D

Interesting poll, however the results don't surprise me greatly. Opinions seem to be split even on forums like this one as to whether people think Batman's involvement in a sequel changes their opinion or likelihood to see the follow up.

I'd be interested if there was more people & a more statistical look at the answers, with each answer given to certain questions differing the next question they are asked. For example the people that said no I didn't like Man of Steel, that percentage of people should then have been asked had the heard the announcement of the sequel & if so would Batman's involvement in the follow up make them more likely to see a sequel.

It's still an interesting poll though none the less.

The people who think Nolan directed Man of Steel are also the people who think Quentin Tarantino directed Hostel and Man with the Iron Fist.

I laughed way too hard at the last question.

So University classes started back up for me, outside of my circle of friends who are "hardcore enthusiasts"(I really don't like using Comic Book Nerd/Geek, it seems a little derogatory), I've also been chatting to friends who would fall into the "general audience" category these results no doubt reflect the exact sentiments of the population in 2013.

I'd say give it time, sentiments will change, all we need is a decent actor for Batman which I believe Snyder & Co. can pull off. If there's one thing in my opinion Zach Snyder's good at, it's casting. He hit the nail on the head with Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe & Kevin Costner. I mean way back, weren't there still people hung up on Pierce Brosnan when Daniel Craig first took to the role?

This guy who did this survey, should survey these same questions again in 2015 and see if people change their tunes.

I just really hope they don't get JGL. He's a fine actor, but he's not an actor to play Batman, especially the Bruce Wayne Batman... and to make a Batman-Superman movie without Bruce Wayne as Batman would be the dumbest move WB would have ever made and would make me seriously suspect that they are deliberately trying to fail.

From the press release:
The new Batman has yet to be cast.

[Dark Knight Trilogy Producer] offered, “Whilst our ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy is complete, we have every confidence that Zack’s fresh interpretation will take the character in a new and exciting direction.

Hrmph. Semantics, semantics. You're awesome, ChrisB, but casting is casting. It means the role for this film hasn't been cast yet. Warners can easily worm their way out of this one if the opportunity...rises. ;)

And it will include a "fresh interpretation" by Snyder...how close was Nic Cage's Ghost Rider sequel to the original film? There's room for a new interpretation here...and actors love that.

They're talking about the role -- none of this actually says that it couldn't be Bale.

Just sayin'

Great pole, btw. Very useful.

The Nolan answer :funny::funny:

They are going to milk is name as hard as they can

Wow... GA wants a Wonder Woman movie... we'll see how this movie will do once it's made...

I'm really surprised more people want a Wonder Woman movie than a JL movie. Dayum!

It's great to see some cold hard facts for once. Great read, interesting read. The one that interests me is that only half the people polled seem to actually give a damn that Batman is in the film.

I am too actually, more than a new Batman film. The fact that JL came in a distant third surprises the hell out of me to be honest.

Maybe they didn't exactly know what JL is? I'm really having trouble believing that.

Are feminists going to be happy about a Wonder Woman film, or will we hear lots of complains about the objectivizing of women, and her shoddy clothing. Although considering how tight Superman's outfit is, that might be a bit hard.

I just hope they leave Lois with strong, confident roles in MOS2.

They'll need a female director for WW to quell fears. It seems like there's a weird double standard, in which only men can be strong and sexy.

I'm not saying WW should have a revealing costume on film, I kind of hope she doesn't. But anything she says or does will be looked through a microscope, just because she's a woman (by the femi-meanies).

What I really want to know though is, what percentage of people are less excited/less likely to see the film with Batman. The no to "more excited", is split between two undifferentiated groups, well, actually three. 1-those like me who are "Well, I am not more excited with Batman becase that is not possible", or the similar "my excitement is the same with Batman, I still am excited, but only a little". Then there is group two who are less excited, I guess also broken between those who still would go see it, and those who hate Batman coming in so much that they will not go see the new film. Then there is group 3, people who are not more excited, and would not go see the film with or without Batman.

Ridley Scott for a Wonder Woman film. I would be more hyped for that than the upcoming WF film. :o

If they get Bale, I think you are right that they could spin it so we have always been at war (that is my from only second-hand knowledge allusion to 1984), however from what they have said so far it is clear they are not counting on Bale returning.

It took us an hour to come up with these questions, and then a week to break them down to their most simplistic and authentic level. Out of all the people we polled maybe 50 immediately knew exactly what we were talking about in regards to the Comic-Con announcement. Which would equate to 50 out of 1000 being the "fanboy" demographic. The vast majority of moviegoers don't scour the internet for movie news. They watch iTunes Trailers, Yahoo! Movies videos, read newspaper/magazine reviews, or check Fandango and/or Rotten Tomatoes.

The thing to remember is you can't ask general moviegoers if they will or will not see a movie that is set to come out is two years when they have very little info to go off of. Like Sam Jackson says ad nauseum, "the trailer sells the movie." The base of the poll wasn't to see if people would, today, spend money on a movie they have little info about it was to gauge exactly how close/far off general moviegoers' opinions are from internet hounds in terms of how this announcement and its related content are acknowledged.

When you give people limitless options (fill in the blank) or 10 different choices that were created from a fan perspective most would simply lose interest. That's what focus groups are for. And that's what we wanted to avoid.
