I know this represents a small sample but is there a positive poll that BvS can win?

BvS vs Fant4stic. Although given the choice I'd still rather watch Fant4stic, even though it is worse, just because it is like half as long.

Shockingly, I've seen a couple of people come around and enjoy the weirdness in Fan4stic. As one of the film's tiny minority of defenders, I'm very pleased with this development.

I voted for Suicide Squad. It was less painful to watch.

Suicide Squad is new, so I am not surprised by the result. I just don't see it myself

I liked the thematic stuff at play in BvS....but I found it easier to relate to the guys that are busting their assets for personal gain instead of heroics. So, I'll have to give it to SS. A more likeable bunch of heroes than the proto Justice League we got in BvS, or any subsequent cbms sans Hellboy I/II.

The difference here is Doomsday was a secondary villain. Enchantress was the main villain. You can have a one dimensional creature for a fight and be okay, but if you have a main villain with no personality and a performance about as interesting as watching paint dry, then you have larger problems.

I think Waller filled a role more similar to Lex than Enchantress did, so for me the Enchantress vs Doomsday comparison is apt. And out of those four only Waller was good to me.

Kinda the same - a lot of what Enchantress did felt like it was Waller's nastiness coming right back around on her. A bit Doomsday esque, except I was more forgiving since the siblings could've come from the pages of a couple of my favorite fantasy series.

SS was a choppy, sloppy editing mess from hell right from the time the WB logo flashed on the screen

yet I still related more to the characters and had more fun with SS even with all its warts.

a nightmare year for WB. hopefully 2017 is much kinder to us.

This will be the first batch where y'all get to see Geoff at the reigns, right?

Suicide Squad....... not a great film, kind of a B action flick. About as sophisticated as the Expendables series, which is quite a low bar.

Anyway, SS wasn't as terrible as it was made out to be. And to be honest I have no idea what Jared Leto is *****ing about in terms of Joker's scenes being cut out - it's not his ****ing movie ! I thought he did well with the time he got, and his blingy OTT Joker is a decent reinvention of the character.

Still, the characters were pretty average, and there was an attempt at a story, that didn't work that well.

However, I went into SS with no expectations at all - if I had, I'd have been disappointed.

B v S, had so much hype and was so disappointing, that ultimately I would rather watch SS again - because I really don't care about the characters (and the film hasn't changed that at all).

Which is actually the better film - to be honest, I just can't be objective enough to work that out.

Cheers.

Why to make another DCEU thread? It will end up in the same hatestorm as any other... :whatever:

I loved both BvS and SS but I cannot say it openly here because majority of people would swoop on me in an instant.

Uh, there's plenty of vs. movies threads.

Sometimes Marvel vs. Dc, or Fox vs. Marvel or Marvel vs. Marvel, why not DCEU vs. DCEU.

I do find this poll interesting that posters here would put a movie higher than one with Batman, Superman and WW in it.

I know this represents a small sample but is there a positive poll that BvS can win?

If this was the BvS UC I think it would be winning, but not everyone has seen it and the poll maker didn't specify.

I think the poll maker was very clear. :o

2016 is in the books for the DCEU.

If you want to make this the Batman v. Superman Ultimate Edition vs. Suicide Squad that's fine too.

Let's keep the topic on the 2 movies at hand.

BvS is a joyless and dour affair, but that was the vision of the director, and he stuck with it throughout. It didn't try to shy away from what it was.

Suicide Squad has no idea what it is or what it wants to be. It's a Frankenstein's Monster of a movie. Cut and hacked and stitched together from bits and pieces of different concepts, and forced back to life. There's no clear vision. It's an unmitigated mess.
So much this.

Honestly, I'm not entirely convinced it would have made that much of a difference.

Batman v Superman has more flaws but also has more ambition. BvS's story was better and more engaging. The action and cinematography was better too. Suicide Squad might be easier to digest but BvS is a better film.

BvS was better for sure but I love both

I guess the next question is do we think DC/WB has learned anything from this year's releases?

Or are they just going to keep going down the same path?

My fear is that now that SS has crossed the 600M mark they haven't learned anything and will continue to churn out the same quality.

I think that's a lot of people's fears.

I don't think this is the thread to discuss that, this thread is about which film you prefer
