Alright, before all of you thread police start freaking out. Yes, I know he won't appear. But, lets assume the one day the WB execs have a fanboy day and decide to allow Bats to appear in Smallville for one or two episodes. How would you handle it?

And on a side note. Does anyone know if the Bats ban extends to even mentioning his character? IE- Having Ollie mention some other billionaire named Bruce Wayne. Or Clark/Lois looking over news reports of a masked vigilante in Gotham. Nothing substantial. Just enough to throw the fans a bone.

Seriously, why would this be locked? I am not asking why he won't be on the show. This is a Smallville thread and we discuss lots of things that will never happen. Just curious how other fans would introduce a character as big as Bats.

ps-Hulk, I like that gif. :)

it would be great if they could have had batman on the show, but now with ollie who is pretty much smallville's batman its doubtful we will ever see him. Though it would be nice if there was a mention of the batman existing in sv. And yea it would be been nice over the years if maybe a refence to wayne industries/wayne family got mentioned either in a daily planet article or by lex/lionel. But the closest we have gotten to batman is a few mentions of gotham city and also the city dick went to when he became nightwing.

Web,
Thats what I am curious about. I wonder if even mentioning Bruce Wayne or even Wayne Industries is prohibited.

TAS: World Finest, the original one. Clark and Bruce as antagonists over Lois, Superman vs. Batman in ideology, then team up in the face of greater threats

I would really love to see DarkBlur compared to that violent Gotham City vigilante.

I think there is a good opportunity for a little gem like that to be place in the next few episodes, where the Blur is gonna take some heat from the public for his actions.

yea i do wonder if saying wayne/batman names are totally prohibited or not. Cause if it wasnt i dont see the harm of a daily planet article mentioning wayne industries or even wayne. But for all we know bruce in smallville's world could still be training/studying aboard right now.

i would be happy with some1 saying bruce wayne has turned up alive his just returned to gotham. then about 7/10 episodes later they report that theres a bat-man running around gotham.

that would be nice, and for clark and the others if like ollie mentions he met with a mysterious guy in gotham but when he asked him to join up with them he declined or something.

Could free up the Daily Planet from the thumb of Lex corp. if it was bought out from under Tess by some absentee owner, Playboy, from Gotham.
Could have a scene where she throws a fit because of this Gothamite buying it.

Later the Daily Planet get Perry White back, as he is hired to bring things back to normal operations and no longer having to be a mouth piece for Lex Corp.

So they could have Bruce Wayne rescue the Daily Planet, without ever really mentioning his name.

However, if WB can sort out the rights, and get him on the show, that would rule.

I like your idea.

i hope if he is mentioned, there's an humorous mention of ollie ripping off his vigilante schtict

i heard that they originally planned to use batman instead of superman.

i'd also really like to see them drop his name in a future episode.

Batman should always be about 10 years older than Supers. (I mean Batman, not Bruce Wayne) Batman should be around well before Superman IMO. If he were to be used on the show like right now, he should make Oliver and the JLA look like a team of amateurs who have no idea what they are doing.

Correct - when Smallville was nothing more than a twinkle in the producer's eyes, it was originally intended to be a show about Bruce Wayne's early years leading to his formation of the Batman persona. Why that changed, I don't know - maybe because WB decided to go ahead with rebooting the Batman franchise (which ultimately led to Nolan's Batman Begins) and didn't want a TV series crossing paths with the feature versions.

In any event, if Batman was to appear in Smallville, the obvious explanation for his appearance would involve either Bruce Wayne being linked with Lex or Oliver - more likely Oliver at this point in time. They're both billionaire businessmen, it's the most apparent way to bring him into the show and forge a link between them.

Of course, Bruce Wayne could have an ulterior motive for being there and is only using business as a cover.

Personally, I'd like to see him coming to Metropolis to track down a villain who has escaped from Gotham, perhaps a gang boss or an ex Arkham convict. The villain could up to no good somewhere in Metropolis at night, only to be stopped by Clark in his familiar 'Blur' outfit. It would be cool if Clark head a noise behind him and turned his head for a second, only to turn back round and have the villain nowhere to be seen - Batman has swooped in from nowhere in silence using the grappling hook and captured the villain.

Batman may only be human, but he's as well trained and stealthy as a ninja, so it would be nice to see even Clark wondering how he can disappear so quickly.

Ultimately this could lead to a game of cat and mouse between Clark/Batman as they struggle to comprehend whether they're on the same side or not. Throw in a bit of Wayne-love towards Lois (unrequited, of course) to stir up that side of things, and it could be a pretty entertaining episode.

Pish! We don't need Batman for that. :p

Clark doesn't count.

Up until this season, he's had too many personal issues to really show them up. Sure, he's got the power to show them up (and does so often), but lacks the constitution to really make a difference(ie. he's still often disturbed by events in his life, making him unreliable). As Dark Blur, he has certainly stepped up his game. But in all honesty, Bats should also make Clark look like a rank amateur as well (if he were to show up on SV now). Because as far as dedication goes in the DCU, Batman is the man, not even Supes matches up(mostly because Bats is a mere mortal, which makes things harder for him relatively speaking).

Would a Batman series about Bruce becoming Batman even be successful? Since he would not of became Batman until the series was over?...But as far as appearing on SV, well he could appear in a couple of episodes...Like have 2 episodes that are continuous ones were he has to take down Killer Croc who teamed up with Metallo

Then in another episode he joins the JLU to bascially teach them how to be true heroes and also taking down Sal Maroni crime orginazation who teamed up with the Intergang..But no Bruce/Lois relationships SV has enough drama....If we are lucky we get to see Batman beat up Green Arrow in a one-on-one fight just as an exhibition.

^A Bruce Wayne series pre-Batman wouldn't have gone 9 years i'll tell you that much...

And don't forget the fact that back in Season 4 (?) Adam Knight was purportedly a stand-in for Smallville's version of Bruce Wayne. But it never came to pass cuz they were forbidden by WB. Hence why his storyline ended up really weird...

I mean the character did have similarities to Bruce as I recall he was a martial artist, had advanced computer skills and his parents were murdered.

So how many seasons you think Bruce Wayne series would of been like 5 seasons?...And what action would their be outside him training?...Was he still gonna be fighting crime but as a regular person like how Clark is doing now?

I have no idea...I really don't see it going maybe more than 2 or 3. Honestly, unlike Superman where you can tread the line with him developing superpowers over time and wearing a "training suit" I don't see how long you can stretch Bruce Wayne without eventually giving him the cowl.

In addition, in terms of the villians I don't see how you can introduce his villains into a pre-Batman environment. Its not like you can show the Joker before he becomes the Joker or any other villain for that matter since a large majority of Batman's villains are the direct product of Batman's appearance in Gotham.

The obvious choice would be to develop a young Harvey Dent but still...how far can that go?

They made the right choice going with Superman for the series. And honestly, if you had to choose between a pre-Batman television series OR Chris Nolan's Batman series--its no contest.

It all worked out in the end for both characters.

yea i agree a pre batman show probably wouldnt have lasted to long. Before it would have to turn into a full blown batman show.

In other words the pre Batman show sounded bad from the start....Maybe they could of went with a live action TDKR tv series.
