Batter Up! Casey Jones thread

I remember being so irritated when they replaced Casey in the second movie with that stupid kid that couldn't fight or explain cricket like Casey.:cmad:

You mean Kino?

I've liked Casey Jones since his appearence in the original Ninja Turtles cartoon in the 80's, even if he sounded like a poor man's Dirty Harry there. It wasn't "Goongala", but "When do I get to BREAK something!?" is almost as classic. Almost. However, that series had 194 episodes and he showed up a whopping 5 times; not very often. It was easy to forget about him as a kid, especially as I got older, went to junior high and had lost interest in Ninja Turtles for better cartoons of the time, like B:TAS, X-MEN, and SPIDER-MAN.

Elias Koteas was pretty good in the role in the first TMNT movie, as I have stated elsewhere, a performance a lot of fanboys forget. A shame his final appearence was in TMNT III, which was an utter waste for all involved.

Chris Evans was one of the saving graces of the mediocre FANTASTIC FOUR film (the other being Chiklis' Thing), pretty much nailing Human Torch to a T. That said, hopefully he can capture Casey Jones. I mean, Casey's surely not the same kind of character Torch is. Also, for about 3 years my ears have gotten used to Marc Thompson on the 2003-2006 TV series.

I guess my liking for Casey Jones spills into two reasons; firstly, as a superhero fan, he taps that appeal because he's a very low rent vigilante. And secondly, as a kid, while one could never REALLY be a Ninja Turtle, all you needed was a bat and a mask to be Casey Jones, least on the playground (even if Donatello was my fave Turtle and most of the kids argued over who got to play Mikey). Plus, you have to give it up for a guy who's always there when he can for his "Turtle pals". He'd walk through Hell to back them up, even if he had no hope of victory, and the 21st century 'toon captured that well.

While he's hardly the star of TMNT IV here, I will be disappointed if he is handled badly.

maybevmr koteas was unavailable to do "ooze"due to prievious commitments:ninja:

The "myth", whether true or false, was that parents groups didn't respond well to Casey Jones and as SECRET OF THE OOZE showed more of the sort of style that the cartoon was known for (while the first movie was adapted from several Mirage comics and had a darker tone), that might explain why he wasn't present. During the late 80's when the Turtles were starting out on TV the parents groups had a lot of sway and that was part of why it was jokey and eventually Mikey even lost his nunchucks.

And naturally the early-mid 90's saw a lot of "action shows that could barely show action" on TV, save for B:TAS.

Why do some over sensitive parents have to butt in on stuff they never should have to begin with. Why do they automatically assume that a cartoon is meant for kids? Don't they remember watching the Flintstones and Jetsons when they were kids, and didn't give a hoot if Fred lost his temper at Wilma, or George and his boss had their spats.

Besides, that's what Barney was invented for, for the little kids to watch and not worry about anything provocative or violent to be seen.

Yup, I meant Kino. I think part of why the second movie was ruined was because there was no Casey in it. And you know what, they better handle him right here, or I'll be upset. Heck, I'm just glad he is in it. :)

I can echo this sentiment. I'm glad he's in but I want him done well. Chris Evens has an uphill battle after 3 years of Marc Thompson (and some well written Casey episodes and outings).

What I never get about the parent groups is that while their intentions are noble, children always find ways to watch what they shouldn't and it's up to their rearing that determines whether it "warps" them or not. I mean networks censor cartoons but most kids in that range probably have seen far worse on WWE or movie channels. Many of these groups forget the best censor if you dislike something is the button on the remote that says, CHANNEL +.

thought this could use a bump....

i liked casey in TMNT overall, i would of liked him a lot more if he was visually more muscular and rough, not so long and lanky
