Age of Extinction Bay to kill off Fox in TF3?

Beckinsale was one of the best things about Pearl Harbor in terms of characters and acting. I felt her character was more fleshed out and believable than Asslick or Hartnett. I only recently heard the car wash story which I can't even believe. Firstly, how did Bay get away with it? Secondly, what does it say about Fox that she did it? I think they both suck then if it actually happened.

Star Trek also had it's unnecessary girl flesh moments, most notably Rachel Nichols as the green alien girl all scantily clad with Pike.

Nolan's Batman was a very different kind of film and I have a lot more respect for Nolan also. But comparing Nolan's Batman to Transformers 1 or 2 is like comparing Saving Private Ryan to Transformers. Just doesn't work.

Beckinsale was one of the best parts of PH, but her role was still written no differently than Liv Tyler in Armageddon. They both sit by a comm machine (TV screen or radio) breathing heavy in close-up, longing for their loving man.

As for the Fox/Bay story. Fox confirmed it, I thought. And no that is not hard to believe, not in Hollywood. And a desperate (untalented, but hot) actress degrading herself to get a part? Not as horrible as the manipulative producer/director in Bay's case.

And yeah, ST objectified women, but it's main girl (I forget her name), despite being sexy was a real, strong, fleshed out female character. Recently, in a rare scene for Bond movies, Eva Green played a sexy Bond girl who had to be presented as absolutely gorgeous as the "It" girl in an action movie, but she was still very well written and made the movie much better and engaging. Same with Paltrow in Iron Man.

And while I don't think TF is nearly as rich a material as Batman, saying you can't compare is no dice. They're both summer blockbusters meant to appeal to all audiences. The difference? Nolan treats his film and audience with intelligence and care. If it makes Transformers look stupid, cynical and insipid in comparison...that is because it is. Indeed.

Some of this is tiresome now, Bay didn't write the characters, he directed the films. While I will put a lot of blame on him because nobody is above the law, a lot of the blame falls to the writers too. Transformers 2 was written by Orci who wrote Star Trek. One was awesome (mostly) and the other was crap. Visually Transformers was stunning but the story was just awful, Star Trek had it's weaknesses but was as a whole a much better product.

Well now I know what happened and it's pathetic. Bay should never have done it and it sickens me to think that he did. Goodbye respect. As for Fox, I'd hardly be surprised if she's donw worse. As we all know and agree, her acting doesn't get her the roles.

Zoe Saldana is a better actress and had a bigger role. Megan Fox is one of the only humans in Transformers 2 but I still believe that her role is insignificant and her lack of ability only strengthens the case that she shouldn't have much to say or do in the franchise. I'd also like Shia Lebouf to have less of a role, he's such a little tool. The reimagining of the Bond films lends itself to the new style and portrayal of the female leads, it works better in our real world. Paltrow was great in Iron Man but her character also doesn't scream for the treatment Fox gets. Pepper is a more professional/conservative woman.

Michael Bay makes popcorn movies, I'm not going to argue otherwise because it's true. Nolan makes heavy, story-filled, thought provoking films. Two different directors with different audiences. While there will be a big overlap (especially in the kiddie arena where they all just want to see everything because it's a comic or cartoon), they are still for different audiences. We can argue until we're blue in the face.

What it comes down to is this: Bay is a *****e, Fox is a *****, Transformer films are mind-numbing and below par, only a good script can save the franchise, anything else?

I agree that you can't compae Bay to Nolan. Comparing him to Emmerich makes much more sense.

This isn't aimed at anyone in particular, but, I find it really funny and strange that people who say they hate Bay have seen all of his movies. :woot:

If you don't like someone, don't see their movies. It's pretty simple. :yay:

That is a line of logic I use a lot with Bay haters but then I also see films of actors/directors/etc. that I don't like just to see if their latest project will be any different. I have been pleasantly surprised from time to time.
