At this point it is an unconfirmed rumor, but Famke Janssen may have been cast as Tony Stark's love interest in "Iron Man." Last seen in "X-Men: The Last Stand," the former Bond girl is no stranger to the comic book genre. This news comes just after the announcement that Robert Downey, Jr. has been cast as the Marvel hero.

In the film, Downey will portray a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon. Using his intelligence and ingenuity, Stark instead builds a high-tech suit of armor and escapes captivity. Upon his return to the U.S., he uncovers a plot with global implications and must don his armor and protect the world.

Janssen would most likely portray Bethany Cabe, who meets Stark at a convention in New York. The two become romantic as she helps him with his struggle with alcoholism and eventually learns of his secret identity.

Jon Favreau is directing with filming scheduled to begin in February. Paramount Pictures has scheduled "Iron Man" to open in theaters May 2nd, 2008.

Agreed. She could easily do it, but it messes with my Marvel Movie-verse mindset. Rebecca Romijn (Spelloring!?) was acceptable in Punisher, but even there...it skwarfed me. I'd prefer to have them as one character in the Movie-verse. Just for me.

I am having a hard time believing this story, simply based off of the fact that she starred in three X-Men films, and now she will have a major part in Iron Man.
When Rebecca Romijn did Punisher, she was able to pull that off, because in X-Men, she was completly in make up as Mystique. I can't see how Marvel would have her co-star in Iron Man, knowing people would recognize her from X-Men.
I'll wait for a more legit news source to confirm this article, before I believe it.

I remember Favreau saying in his Q&A that, given that Tony is a real playboy - not a facade like Bruce Wayne - it was likely that he wouldn´t have a single love interest in the movie. Could be like a Bond girl thing.

it says most likely not WILL so that means they still dont kno the character she is playing for sure.

No clue if this is true or not. But Jon and Famke are friends and have already worked together twice in films. Once in Love & Sex and again in Jon's movie, Made, which he wrote and directed. I personally think it would be cool if she were cast, but I can see where the "uncertain because of X-men" crowd is coming from.

October 2, 2006 - Is Tony Stark falling for Jean Grey? There's a new rumor -- albeit a fairly shaky one -- that X-Men actress Famke Janssen has been cast as Tony Stark's love interest in the forthcoming Iron Man movie that will star Robert Downey, Jr. in the title role.

Janssen was recently cast by Iron Man director Jon Faverau, with whom she has worked several times before.

What do we think? It wouldn't be a bad bit of casting, but take this rumor with a grain of salt until we hear more.

Another salt-worthy rumor going around is that Hustle & Flow actor Terrence Howard is in talks to play Tony Stark's friend Jim Rhodes (a.k.a. War Machine). We'll have more on all these rumors as news breaks.

Iron Man, from Paramount Pictures, is set for a May 2, 2008 release.

Lady Janssen in real life, is the wife of Jon Favreu? because I saw a movie where Jeannie and Foggy are Lovers, even there is a report from Wizard magazine, previous to DareDevil Movie, where Jon was talking about Famke and The X-MEN Movie.

Its a reference to her character in the comics not the movie....and I have no problem with her being cast. Since the x-movies went down the sh1tter, Famke can hopefully secure redemption with this potentially collosal movie.
